I also have one. I don't find myself using it as much as my other controllers, but it's pretty nice. I stick to the basic mode (slider + pressure, with the slider latching) or record (with instant looping, because it's big fun how it just immediately replaces the recording when you draw in another one).

It takes a minute to get used to the gesture recording particularly starting and stopping at the same spot if you want smooth transitions. I love that it can latch the pressure as you lift your finger. The MicroFreak pressure sensitivity always returns to zero as you lift up, as does the Soma Terra unless you latch the mod at the point you want. I hate modulating to a place I like by pressure then lifting my hand only to have the synth return to no modulation.

After laughing at how many Stranger Things theme covers people used to post on YouTube, I went and bought the Tangerine Dream live album where they covered it.



And some other stuff as well. I haven't listened to any of it yet because I realized my new phone (Pixel 8a) has less storage than my five-year-old one (Galaxy S10e) and it's time to start pruning my library a bit. But I'm pretty excited for this one, gamelan and synths (not just using gamelan samples but working with performers):

That Tangerine Dream release is great, thanks for that. That version of Rubycon is fantastic, and even that version of Mothers of Rain is nice. I have that album, Optical Race, it's one of their 80s albums and it's my favorite of their 80s cheese phase.

I bought Optical Race when it was first released and I was still in high school, and I still love it even though it's also kind of terrible. It was somehow the first TD album I owned and it had that cool cutout design for the insert. I listened to it kind of obsessively until my Walkman ate it. Same for me, I had the cassette and wore it out in my car stereo on long drives, and I also have a used CD. Only difference is that my dad was a TD fan in the 70s so I already knew about Pheadra and Rubycon, though I didn't have a copy until later.

I forget if you got to see them a year ago when they toured North America. I saw them twice, once in Philly and once in DC. I also saw them in 2012 when Edgar was still there. Their catalog is so deep I feel there is something for everyone, the list of releases they've put out is staggering.

Thanks for the TD rec - most likely seen that but didn't realize what an interesting piece of the puzzle it is. Also picked up the Blood Incantation EP with Thorsten Quaesching, a Magma reissue with bonus content (the Live album remaster is mind-blowing), and the Blu DeTiger EP with Vintage...

Nope. That was a bad year for missing shows... I had too much going on in the fall to get time off to see TD in Chicago, and I didn't even know about the Skinny Puppy tour until a few weeks *after* they played Chicago (I'm still mad about that).

Not my kind of pedal but was still curious at more objective views than on the fan thread where it seems to do everything even good espresso during the drum sound checks

I haven’t tried one. I’ve barely looked into them. I did give this demo a check and I didn’t hear anything that grabbed me. The neural editor looks like it would drive you nuts

I've got this and like it a lot. I use pretty much every mode occasionally, and even though the keyboard mode is just a handful of notes it can still be useful. There's a decent chance I get a second one at some point.

On a related note, I got the MN PrssPnt and didn't gel with it at all. It didn't reliably register my fingertips and I had to return it. The Gliss is a different type of surface altogether.

not with that one, but i did have some other sa stuff for a bit. i ending up moving on from it.

tbh, if those earlier models had the espresso firmware, i might have kept them.

Didn’t have a c4 but an aftershock… and as much as I love the appeal… it was options overload and some stuff just made it unusable live. If I switched from one patch to another there would be all sorts of massive volume jumps or drops or weird eq that couldn’t just change on the fly. Granted I don’t play live as much as I used to but it just pit me back to I like the “what you see is what you get” stuff.
