Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Holy cow. Brand new toys, and already I started hearing a crackle in the left monitor. I started to flip out. Then I started to trouble shoot. Swap cables. Swap power outlets. Try interface outputs 3/4 instead of 1/2...
Then I realized my buffer size was pretty small in the previous session, so I changed that up. I also tried running Logic instead of Ableton. The crackles have gone away. Odd I was only hearing this on the left channel.
I think I was getting audio artifacts because I was beating up the CPU in Ableton. Though, the metering said I wasn’t pushing it too hard, the audio evidence was obvious. I’ll keep beating these monitors up for a few days and see where it goes.
On the good side, I can already tell that I can hear much better detail at much lower volumes. It’s really quite nice to feel like I can work at 11pm without worrying about my common-wall neighbors being annoyed.

I like this thread... free flowing discussion and everyone supportive - not the whole “you don’t use ampeg or fenders - you don’t belong” or the rampant just dribble stuff that some other threads in the effects section do... I think we kinda sorta stay on topic!
That Ableton buffer sometimes has gremlins in it I swear.
I'm still to lazy to try another DAW. Wish there was something in between audacity and cubase......by that I mean bonehead simple yet powerful.
I'm anti protools ever since a way back when you "had to buy" there soundcards to use the program .....yeah $#^;#& you.
It was the one I learned on in school. Plus it rendered in "real time", that was the dumbest thing ever.

Kinda takes a while to get used to a new reference speaker.
I also cheat and use a spectral analyzer on the main out to help cuzz I suck hahah.
You can set up your old system as a reference to a/b both systems.
Here's the first part of the improv we did to a presentation from a visual artist at the last synth meetup. This part of the jam was very good, unlike the later half I bitched about, earlier.

I love the concept of imrpov and ambient.
On our side we got about 80% of our next "release" ready. Hard part is making it one whole seamless set with samples and sound manipulation. Yesterday I finally incorporated the no input mixer
It was LOUD i gotta tame this beast with a limiter.
I’m down the VST limiter rabbit hole. The Waves IMPusher is pretty nifty if you’re looking for a software solution.
Got the new monitors up and running. Now I’m organizing my “studio” area. To minimize cables and outlets needed, I just picked up a Cioks DC7. Thanks Perfect Circuit.
Now I’m planning a few other administrative rearrangements. I want to get out of my own way, and start actually producing something, instead of just permanently tweaking sounds and endlessly hunting for a unicorn.

Taking a brief holiday with the girl in Asheville, NC. Went to the Moog factory/store as well as the ‘Moogseum’ downtown. The Moog One is crazy good, but I also was knocked out by the Matriarch. Just a terrific synth
“honey, let’s go to the moog museum” would be a quick way to ask for a divorce.

Actually, I dragged my female BFF, essentially my sister, to Perfect Circuit today. A couple years ago, I also dragged her into Bass San Diego. She’s a saint, and the above reasons barely rank on the list of reasons why

i was just messing. my wife has put up with my nonsense for 36 years. (and vice versa)
My wife would impress some at that museum. She has 10x the musical talent I have. She's played classical piano since she was 5 and played organ in church as a kid.
She would bust out some Liszt on one of those synths or some Scott Joplin and leave a couple jaws on the floor.
I definitely married a higher # on the scale than I am.
