Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Ok, look, you gotta walk that walk. I know you are gonna be pissed at me for doing this, but with no disrespect meant, that's bad advice. And this is why I had to take a sabbatical.

Gotta do what you gotta, but that is a bit harsh to imply that someone’s opinion is the reason you had to take a sabbatical from a discussion group! Grading on the curve, it’s a pretty great group of folks discussing ‘outside’ music and I selfishly find your contributions valuable. I also like your music, for what it’s worth.

Don’t worry I’ve got thick skin. I’ve been called way worse then “wrong” or “giving bad advice”. I’ll sleep fine.

I had quite a few close acquaintances sound treat a rented place and lost a $%^& ton of money sound proofing the place. And that was money borrowed from a financial institution with interest.
Doors, windows for booths, floor....etc.....
So yes I was talking from very close experience.
;)

Maybe I should just have added :

this post only includes permanent modifications to the room.

And yet again, I’m not mad in the least.
Cheers buddy.

Edit: I even helped sound proof some of those places. I still have horrible dreams about the #^#^##&#& sticky black goop that never dries to sound proof windows and cracks.

Also remember busting up a closet's walls cuz the huge old mixer psu was too big and generated to much heat. That was a loads of fun.....puke....

Oh edit 2.....drilling hole in wall for patch bay twice cuz the first time we found a huge concrete support column in the wall. Filling back the 1st hole in an already sound proofed wall = hell on earth.

my peeve about tb is the sort of weird dogmatic attitudes from people who will (belligerently) give an opinion about something without every having done it (no empirical evidence) or given it any real thought.

most of the time, you can tell who knows their stuff and who doesn't—and it seems pretty harmless to me.

Exactly. We do it cuz we need to, not for fans , $ or any of that.
At least we can all say “i did this” when we creat.

All of us can say : I worked on my craft. I did something. I progressed, I went forward.

No sitting idle on the sidelines.
Also consider that sometimes, real growth benefits from some regression.

maybe

naw. i'm here and i interact. a lot of things i look at and think "that's some stupid $hit, i oughta say something" . . . and then wise up and leave well enough alone.

;)
I actually like being called out on my stupid stuff.....my best buds love doing it to me. Haha.

Believe me....ive done alot of stupid crap in my time.
