Been doing some pedal looping...hope to have something upload-worthy in a day or two.
It's like doodling with cables and knobs, you can blow hours doing this. Lots of fun as long as you are careful not to blow out your ears or speakers. Some of these synth and delay pedals the volume can get out of control real fast if you're not careful when using feedback.

Brick wall limiters tend to be more common in mixing and mastering. Possibly something like a DE CL from FEA.
It's got an infinity to one ratio. None shall pass.
Like a what what from a what? To me "DE" is the postal code for the State of Delaware lol.
This is me after reading these posts. At least I'm happy, but I gotta lose the tie.

That's the beauty of the Erica Synth Zen Delay design. The infinite feedback gets a volume limit so it won't destroy your ears and gear.
I am using a bunch of different pedals, including at least two delay pedals, and more than one loop. The key is to just turn everything down when you start, especially repeats/feedback knobs, and start twiddling by bringing them up a bit at a time until you get cool sounds that don't rise out of control. Once I get it I can let it run automatically for a good 20 minutes or more. The hard part is getting cool sounds instead of a boring vortex of mush.
Vortex of mush can be cool also....
As for a cheap limiter, the boss lmb-3 can do that job easily.
For some sort of weird reason I really like this compressor. I good reliable tank for gigs.
I'm not a compressor freak and almost never use one live now, but I've had a few high end ones like the Empress and Diamond. Also had the Ampeg and MXR. All are gone except the Boss. Go figure.
One thing I do miss is the metering on the empress, that is a gig saver on a dark stage.

I got the super small Joyo space verb. Sorry not small.....freakin tiny.
Wow am I impressed. Granted it's nowhere near an empress, strymon or high end piece of gear but it definitely works. I think it beats out some mid priced verbs like EHX or MXR.
4 reverb types. We compared with my buddies Boss and Diamond and it's nothing to be ashamed of, especially for live use and the price. I got for 45 cad $$.
The Strymon is gonna wait a little, that one sounds insane.
Broughton is going back for a refund.
That'll teach to me follow TB trends. (Enters box of shame)

Bummer the HPF didn't work out. I have a Broughton HPF/LPF box and it sounds and works great, but really, when they're doing their job, you shouldn't notice em at all. For upright bass they're a godsend. For electric, I usually don't bother
as one who appreciates cheap tiny pedals, i'm gonna go take a look at that one.
We where three sets of ears trying to hear a difference with the hpf on/off and no one could hear anything different.
I thought it would make the amp more "efficient" with the gain stage and power but.....zero difference.
Ampeg svt4 pro running into an old tank indestructible Eden xlt410 cab. The freq roll off is about at 60hz of those cabs.
I used a daw spectral analyzer and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I think i do not hear/feel or need it live with the band.
Or are all 3 of us nuts??? Maybe I should try and push the cab harder and look and the cones????
That cab has been to hell and back the past 20 years without a hpf...so....??? Do I really need it....?
I find the current TB HPF craze a bit suspicious. Feels like a fad to me, like ported speakers and things that come into fashion and then go out. Maybe there's something to it, maybe not. Good to hear some perspective on it.
I've been thinking about getting a HPF but I play a down-tuned 5 string in a metal band and we're loud af. I've blown up a 15 already, so I might have a good use for one. Rolling the bass off does help though. a dedicated filter would do a better job of catching weird transients that might sneak through or huge walls of sound that might come off of some distortion into a wah into a delay or something stupid like that. But this is just 7am, no sleep, not enough coffee talk from me...
The need probably varies depending on what kind of cab you have and if your amp has a built-in LPF as some do. A 410/810 generally already rolls off the lows by design. As a wise man once said, YMMV.
Maybe I just don't have « golden ears » to hear to difference with the HPF.
I've done FOH often and clearly know how effective (more like essential) they are on a PA system but from bass to amp....????
Not so sure IMO, IME....etc......but hey I'm just one dude here.....about 25 years experience on bass sharing his experiments.
I hate doing live sound, I gave that up soooooooo fast. 6 changeovers with local bands with 65 piece drum kits......kill me now.
Anyways, the funds are gonna towards something that has a more « drastic » effect. (Boring dad pun intended)
