duke liked both new albums very much.
I thought the where “ok” by Autechre standards.
Definitely worth listening to them IMO, average or “ok” Autechre is better than 99% of the electronic stuff out there anyways. YMMV, IMO, IME....my 2 cents....etc....
(Both duke and I and Autechre fanboys so.....)

I really liked the huge releases of the Elseq and NTS sessions.
Lots of varied material on those. Made a huge playlist of all Elseq and NTS tracks and I put it on random.
So I have no clue what track is on what, but I definitely dig what I’m hearing.

The last release that I really liked was EXAI, imo one of the best they’ve ever done.

Just downstream of a synth pedal like the SY-1 here, it really fills the hole I needed to fill with my setup, I can do more "synth" sounding stuff with my bass. Boss DD-7 delay is the third and final pedal in the signal chain. Three tracks layered in. This is probably doable live in one take but I'd have to really practice at it.

cool. trying it out now.

i considered getting the nts sessions . . . money and time to listen both are in short supply. what i heard of it seemed really cool.

i tend to like their glitchier stuff.

I like Sign quite a bit. Not the coolest answer, but I’ve listened more to LP5 than anything else of theirs I have. I listened to Confield a lot when it came out. NTS has some amazing moments. I dunno, I’m a fan :)
Still, my favorite electronic record of maybe the last 10 years is Aphex Twin Collapse EP. not sure why, but that record floors me

I like Plus a bit more than Sign. Maybe cuz the “weird” factor is more on display??
Still songs like “TM1 open” on Plus starts with a jack hammer acid drum kick.....sorry even if its Autechre I cant stand it. It lets up later in the song but , Im allergic to those beats.

Very hard to compare eras of Autechre. Maybe in 3 era, early....middle.....post 2010...???
First album I ever listen to was Tri Riptae, still one of my favorites. It gets hypnotic, I really like the repetitive nature and slow development of the tracks on that. I think its still the one I listened to the most. I can hear the next track start in my head without hearing it.

OK, I can nerd out all day on Autechre......and RDJ also.

Another Green World is usually pointed to as the archetypal Percy Jones-with-Eno recording, it was both their first collaboration and the one where Percy's playing is most out front. Although Paul Rudolf also plays some bass on that album. Percy also plays on two tracks from Before And After Science where the cut "Energy Fools The Magician" probably best shows off his Percyisms.

Um...I'm trying to find the place in that History Of Wal article where it says what year Percy started to use a Wal bass, because in it he definitely says "I met Wal when Brand X was rehearsing" and "at the time I was using a fretless Fender Precision"...and I distinctly remember the photo on the rear jacket to Brand X's Livestock album (1977) showed Percy playing a fretless Precision.

I'm a synth newb. But I think this thing is gonna be a very useful tool.
Already sampled a bunch of stuff into my SP with it. Next, learning how it actually works

Re: having many instruments.
I probably played 98% of the past 20 years on 2 bass. I played everything from top 40 to straight ahead jazz with those with zero issues. I dig the tones I get from them.
They play awesome and are gig worthy road tanks. I've gotten so used to playing them, I know them pretty much inside out.
My collection is at 4 after over 25 years of playing.

Some have many instruments, all good.
Whatever makes you happy.

Ya know, I was having a hard time finding anything, I just know that in that Wal universe I inhabit, Percy still gets a lot of mention.
