Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Thank you! You are basically inside my bass. It's a massive acoustic bass guitar. I just ran direct out from my K&K Pure Bass pickup (which I love over all other piezos) into the fDeck HPFpre and into my interface. I have mixed the bass before and that sounds good too. But I wanted to interact with the delays a bit while I was playing and avoid feedback.
It’s easy to over do it with effects. But this was a nice result. Just enough to make it trippy but you could still imagine the strings vibrating.

buddy of mine asked me about gear today - words words sampling words words eurorack words words live performance words words looping...

He wanted to know my thoughts on certain software and hardware solutions like Maschine & Ableton w/ Push. Ultimately, I said - Just get the Octatrak.

Now I want one again :)

some days I gotta work myself up to that machine, but if I could only have one piece of hardware, that’s the one.
Still have considered selling most of my eurorack to fund an Iridium. Had the money set aside, but my new money pit obsession kicked in and I’ve spent way too much money on that...

I love my Octatrack in theory. But it is very bossy.

Ha! They can be for sure :)

Don't get me started on that.

Also, if you need a forum for bike stuff, you might enjoy the crew at ridemonkey. I haven't ridden in ages, but I keep going back for the comedy.

I’ll check it out! Been doing road bikes for the past 20 years, but recently got back into mtb. Helps in so many ways

I have long felt that the gear forums online are exact clones of one another, with the exception of the commodity being discussed (basses, bikes, cars, etc). I know it's not true (Talkbass and the FB Wigglers forum are much more welcoming than some others) but it's still a fun thought.

Heh-heh... We can hang (although tbh I'm pretty much a diehard roadie, don't own a mountain bike and only do dirt/gravel rides begrudgingly).
The fact that I've spent more money on some of my bikes than I ever did on any of my basses continues to fascinate/frighten me.

Are you sub-30 on that build?

27 lbs. not bad for an XL bike with alloy wheels :)

Sweet looking bike! I have a couple nice road bikes as that’s been a huge part of life for awhile now.

Recumbent (because it sort of rhymes)

If you think GAS for bassists is bad try cycling. I really need a beryllium allow handle bar to reduce my overall weight by 10-15 grams.

Oh. I know the deal. One too many crashes changed my trajectory.

How it started.

Here’s an idea for an ambient track. Go ride through a crowded neighborhood recording everything (including the flywheel clicking and all that stuff). Remove all the dead spots and put some synth rhythms to it. Boom! The Orb would be jealous.
