How would you call it?? If you want to call it ambient/noise....hey...why not?
I don't really like the term noise, because it's associations are based on preconceptions of what is considered "sound" , "Musique" or "pleasant/unpleasant " to hear.
But if one calls it noise, I'm not going to argue. I'm not a "every Musique has to have a label " kind of person.

No, that's not how I saw it, at all. I saw it more as YOU DO A LOT OF REAAALY INTERESTING STUFF. The 'awesome' was my editorializing.
Def noise. Ambient can just blend into the background. Not a judgment on the quality, just what I'd classify it as. Ambient, to me, is generally calm.
Speaking of live music... did you know Ticketmaster no longer bothers with set prices, it's based on demand? Was in the queue to get my old-fart concert tix today, the nosebleed seats were 180 bucks. I saw a disclaimer when I logged in that said 'ticket prices are based on demand'. What a load of s**t. I guess it's good that most of the classic acts are retiring now, because short of George and John being resurrected and getting back with Paul and Ringo, there's no way in hell I'm paying that. For anyone.
Ticketmaster? You mean that outfit that fills my inbox with spam emails all the time, which go straight into the trash without being read?
But yeah, concert ticket prices are horrible. Not that concerts are even a thing at the moment, anyway.
I bet. After a year of nothing, they need the cash and the audiences are willing to pay. Look at the pricing for any/everything. The average cost of lumber for a house is up something like $36,000 (so says a recent news article).
On the bright side, it’s still better than the demand pricing for electricity in Texas.
Yeah, the lumber is ridiculous right now, as I'm doing some renovations. I did some figuring out... when I did a huge addon to my house three years ago, if I did it today, it would have been another 20-30k.
That Ticketmaster thing reaaaaly pissed me off. Just checked again. The only cheap seats left are 275 bucks, and the front-of-stage are 805 bucks. Yes, 805 bucks to see a band that hasn't been relevant in 20 years and whose creative peak is about 42 years ago.

It’s a crazy counterintuitive situation. We’ve head about how the lockdown has been financially draining for so many, yet home sales are churning and prices for some goods/services are boosted. The simple idea of supply and demand curve crossing oversimplifies the reality of multiple economic strata. Obviously, some folks have disposable funds to spend and there’s scarcity for live entertainment.

Musique concrète works for me! I like how you deal with these slabs of sound. I almost wish I could hear a bass guitar playing through it, but actually I probably am, just being manipulated in a way I can't immediately identify.
That was part of what was interesting to me today - it was ambient for me at the time! And comforting. I think it depends on what you are used to listening to. I remember thinking to myself, "I don't really listen to this kind of thing anymore..." And yet, it was also familiar and welcoming, having listened to a lot of Japanese noise stuff like Merzbow - sound for its own sake, not necessarily within the strictures of what we normally consider "music," and yet it is. To me, "music" is organized sound...

Fun with midi sequencing and polyrhythms tonight. I could not imagine training my muscles and brain to do this in real time, but the programming let’s me cheat my way into this. I got two modules from the Erica to work together and programmed them for various harmony sequences using just a C chord. Probably not genuine counterpoint or fugue, but influenced by those concepts. I even managed to work with some squelching resonance settings on a filter, which I’m not usually interested in. Pretty enjoyable Friday night in the lab.

My parents are both Oberlin College alumni, and they regularly send me their back issues of the alumni magazine 'cuz they know I'm interested in the goings-on at the Conservatory. I recently recieved an issue from a year-and-a-half ago that had this two page photospread:

Speaking of wood: Anyone recognize the brown wooden thing sitting on top of the ARP 2600 in the middle of the pile? Because that's what my bandmate was using last Wednesday night.

I realized in the last few weeks of introspection (and lot’s of being down on myself and getting nowhere fast trying to get more “normal” with my creations), that this is “my way” of creating and expressing.
No sense in trying to go against what comes “naturally” to my ear or what “feels good” to me.
I use many different methods, the clip was only one of about 2 hours of stuff I have recorded. Still working on more.
I just can’t do the “normal” thing. I just have to accept it and not fight my instincts.
