Chase Bliss Blooper is inbound

I ordered a blooper off reverb yesterday. Should be here next week
Day 7 in the studio is a wrap. Drums are done — the last song took over a day. Nothing special about it, there’s just always a recalcitrant song.
We are now into micing the bass cab and reamping DIed tracks, especially with heavy fuzz or distortion. I tried 4 different mics and they all sound great, just different. I might wind up using all 4, plus the DI or VTDI tracks for a little extra low end. Overdubs start tomorrow afternoon, though we’ll have to go back to finish. Or I may DI at home and reamp in the space.
bonus: Logic’s I/O effect is amazing. Simple and sample-accurate for reamping or using hardware in-line in a mix.

One of the rare times you were right to listen to me!
Heading home from weekend gigs. Nearly 2,000 miles of driving just to play two gigs. Thank goodness the money was decent and ‘worth it.’ We don’t listen to much music in the van and I’m glad for that as a rule. I put in earbuds and listen to stuff none of the other guys would want to hear. This weekend I listened to some random outtakes from the upcoming Lorn record, a couple songs I gotta learn for a gig next week and some work tapes to see if I have enough suitable material for a new Snipecatcher record.
For pleasure, I listened to.

The latest Lorn record I have is Drown The Traitor Within and I like it a lot, but Lorn has always been an odd one for me. There’s not anything particularly groundbreaking and many of the synth and drum parts sound like too familiar presets, but there’s still something really unique about the guy, especially his mixing

I’m assuming most of us here have heard of Jay Hosking on YouTube? If not, I highly recommend his channel. He has crazy amounts of cool gear, but it’s the guys skill that wins. Some real pretty ambient stuff too. This jam just happens to be on an Octatrack

Yes, I am woodshedding alot. (Pick string crossing and chordal voicings mostly)

Here are some shots for day 8/9. Total self indulgence. No right thinking studio would put 4 mics on a bass cab. Happily, we are not a right-thinking studio. The key, we learned from watching a YouTube tutorial, is to align the diaphragms. Moving the channel faders is like eq but better. Also, my wife got super into distortion tone, so I’d run the track through the reamp and bend over the pedalboard and she’d use hand signals when I got the sound the way she wanted.
