Yeah, I'm a sucker for a versatile looper (or two. Or six. Or...) but it seems like the looping function in Thyme is secondary to its modulation capabilities.

Looks like I'll be able to find out soon enough: Based on our conversation at the session the other night I'll probably get to see one in the flesh pretty soon, Mr. Guitar Player was ready to spring for one asap.

Also, despite the fact that I'm leaning more and more towards a tabletop pedalboard that I operate more with the hands than the feet, I find the Thyme's lack of footswitches offputting. Guess I still haven't completely given up on the idea that all these gizmos are supposed to be operated while I'm playing the bass.

I'll probably get over that illusion soon enough

Everything on it is midi controllable so a foot operated thing could be rigged.

That Thyme thing seems awesome. As for it not having a foot switch, it seems better suited for synths anyway. At least that's what I'd use it for.

That’s right! I went into Perfect Circuit planning on buying the Thyme to go with my Digitakt, but they talked me into getting an Octatrack. I’m really glad they did, too. I still think the Thyme is potentially amazing though

I love when technology works (particularly when everything else pooped the bed today).

I rearranged my rack and finally dropped in the Pamela’s New Workout expansion module. I connected the expander’s midi to my Zoia and rigged the Zoia patch to sequence based on the PNW clock. I also patched in a clock divider controlling the Zoia delay. It’s all working. Resets. Timing. All of it. Next step is to patch this to the interface and laptop to get Ableton running based on the PNW start/stop/BPM.

My girlfriend was moving a while back and asked me to take care of her synthesizer until she settled in and found room for it. I had it in my house covered up for a while and didn't touch it, but she gave me the power cord and told me to play with it. So yesterday I hooked it up and starting messing around.

It's a freaking Minimoog Voyager, from about 2001 or 2. Now I know what a REAL synth feels and sounds like, holy cow, this thing is badass. My Moog Mother 32 is awesome, but this is a level or two beyond that in terms of capability. Multiple oscillators, separate envelope for VCA and VCF, LFOs, digital patch storage and callback, and it still has a substantial patch bay on the back to talk to other gear. It even looks awesome, with a blue backlight to the control panel that makes it looks like a set from an 80s sci fi movie.

No wonder they cost so much. Gonna take me a while to sift through the instruction manual; for now just digging the presets. Hoping to record a track or two with it in the near future.

Something cool came in the mail today: Malekko Charlie Foxtrot granular delay / pitch shifter. Been on my list for a long time but when I went to shop for one I couldn't find any bran new so I picked up a used on and downloaded the manual from Malekko's website.

This is my second granular delay after the Dwarfcraft Grazer I got last year, and they are very different pedals. Been playing with this one a bit and really like it so far. The Malekko pedals seem well made and the features on this are cool.

it is a cool pedal. i'm not really clear how to control it

i've read the manual, i've futzed with it, i've asked josh from malekko how it works (he's probably not the main builder on it) and he doesn't really know.

it's much more a reactive thing for me than a i know exactly what it's gonna do. maybe it's just over my pay grade.

that being said i've used it a bunch and like it . . .

That gives me even more respect for Malekko as a company and gives me even more desire to check this pedal out!
