Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

it is a cool pedal. i'm not really clear how to control it :)

i've read the manual, i've futzed with it, i've asked josh from malekko how it works (he's probably not the main builder on it) and he doesn't really know.

it's much more a reactive thing for me than a i know exactly what it's gonna do. maybe it's just over my pay grade.

that being said i've used it a bunch and like it . . .
Can it be used 100% wet?
That’s the way I would tend to use it.

Completely rebuilding dual rig pedalboard.
I literally have a mAh headache, taking a break for now.
Might need a new power supply, not enough mah coming out of my T. rex fuel tank JR.

Any suggestions to thicken up my Oct up signal?
Currently using a T-Rex quint machine set to added 5th to do power chords, but I’m getting pretty sick of this.
Its a heavy band so modulation FX and boosts are a nay.
Signal is pretty simple for the high channel:
Bass — Tuner— POG oct up (dry goes to bass amp) — HM2 — (insert suggestions) —noise gate — Guitar Amp

Trying to avoid the Royal Blood crap, I freakin hate that band. (Sorry…..) I’d never even heard them when I made my dual rig.
They always come up when I mention my rig never the actual bands that made me think of this thing.

Might even go without anything, getting the itch to go caveman\idiot simple as possible.

EDit:
Noise makers and crazy pedals will probably be on a separate small board going right at the start of the signal chain so they can run out both amps.
Currently, boss DD7 and Red Panda Particle v1.

Now get off my lawn!!!!
;)

I do the Micro POG octave up thing a lot. I’ve had good luck with it in front of fuzzes and distortions. I have thought some kind of intermodulation distortion before the other distortions could be good (like Zvex Machine). A low pass filter can be good too. I’ve only experimented in software, but it’s how my Eventide octave up delay sounds less chipmunky and I find the principle works well.

Honestly, once a set, I like to use the POG sound dry to expose its slight sh*tness before unleashing the fuzz.

At the moment the PoG oct up signal goes straight into a dimed hm2.

I really dig the sound but waswondering how I could kick it up an notch im certain sections. Adding more dirt isn't really an option since I'm basically on spinal tap 11.
:)

Jammed tonight and decided to take t rex quint off and go straight up with only the hm2.
I freakin loved not tap dancing on an effin board and just play.

Could post pic but no one wants to see an ugly dirty diy board that's actually been used alot on TB.
;)

A distortion or fuzz clips the top and bottom of a waveform. Intermodulation distortion distorts the inbetween part. Put that before a fuzz or screaming distortion, and you get more. But forget playing chords. The only two pedals I know that do this are Prunes & Custard and Zvex Machine.

This sounds really intriguing. Something I've been enjoying lately is running the Montreal Assembly Your and You're ahead of the Fairfield Randy's Revenge and letting the internal oscillators duke it out. Watching some demos of the Machine, seems like it would do some damage with the YAY. Some of this squelched hissing distortion sounds similar to the Unpleasant Surprise, which is also top on my GAS list, gonna have to do some comparison. Definitely some cool character in that Machine.
