i've been enjoying (and actually making something music-like with) my make noise semi-modular desktop stuff, but i did take the plunge on something i should be getting next week (delayed from this week by fedex woes, i guess). i'm going for something made by make noise, which i sort of get in terms of logic.
like i said, i'm a bit afraid . . .

Reordered a few pedals. Swapped the Box Of War into the mix. I managed to get a few bits rolling and sounding good with both the Miezo and the F Bass. It was a decent night.
I had the Nebulae2 and it was kinda good. Some fun stuff, but mostly frustration. Morphagene is cool. Had one on loan for a few months. The ADDAC seems to have potential if you’re willing to be a beta tester and hope they dial in the firmware
pretty much sums it up.
I think I can make a guess as to what's in that box.....other than Pinhead and his cohorts.
Uh-oh. That 6 string fretless GAS has been nagging me a lot, lately. I spent way too much time at this page last night... luthier's only about 2 1/2 hours away. Please talk me out of it.
MG Basses
I think some of them are a bit more elaborate-looking than I may want, but I'm digging the MG Wavebird one..
Really torn about what pickup config would give me that fretless tone I'm hearing. Very Mark Egan-ish, punchy, but maximum wah. Part of me thinks some MM-style would do it, but then I also think the P/J config is very good, too. So if any of you have anything to say on that...

Some fancy designs, for sure. The Viking looks pretty good but the headstock kills it for me. The fancier designs have better looking headstocks. I kinda like those deep cutaway designs. Overall, good stuff to stare at but nothing that I’d throw money at.
Yeah, it's a fine line. I like fancy woods and such, but I don't like it to the point where it's distracting. I think my CB 6 string really straddles that line.
I'm still looking for some other luthiers that could get me into the 3k range, so if anyone has any suggestions, please share. I'd go with a CB again, but I don't feel like waiting a year.
Really, the big thing keeping me from just buying something off the shelf is string spacing. I really like 16.5/17 and a lot of sixers don't have that.
I do, my Stambaugh 5. Need another string.My job here is done.
You don't already have a fretless??
No comment on shape or woods, but I find with PJ I always strongly favour one pickup or the other. MM does what I always want the even split between P and J (or two Js) to do. They are pretty different sounds though. When I first got into fretless, I was all about the J pickup because of John Munson; now I'm all about the P pickup on fretless because of Bill Lasswell. I also love the sound of a fretless Rick, but like all Ricks, they only sound good in other people's hands.
