Got most of my specs down for the Clement fretless 6.
Here's the top:

Yeah, I like singlecuts. Shoot me. Mine will have bloodwood fingerboard, mahogany body.

Going with this body shape, as well as this style of dots on the neck. Kind of a compromise between lined and unlined.

Going with a Nordy Big Split for the bridge, and their NPA (a slightly more aggressive P pickup) for the neck. Going for the Bart pre that they put in the fretlesses. Black hardware.

2-3 month build time, so I'll have a new toy for those dark winter months. Waiting on final price quote, but def under 2.5k.

I've got those dots on my F Bass and I'm a fan.

Trying to make one last choice... spanish cedar or mahogany? Spanish cedar would take about 2-3 pounds off, easily. I've read a lot of conflicting info, some say cedar sounds more 'acoustic'. I'm not looking for that, I want growl and Egan-levels of mwah.

Anyone have any advice/experience?

After more research, I think I'm gonna go with the Spanish cedar, as we're talking about a 4 pound difference.

Okay, pulled the trigger, sent in the down payment. Also added 5 piece neck with bloodwood stringers. Came to 2485, which is about the most I wanted to spend, anyways.

Gonna be a long 2 or 3 months, but it's better than the year I had to wait for the Bordwell or the 3 years I'd have to wait, were I lucky enough to afford another Wal.

When does a bass finally become a 'last one, I promise'? I mean, what's left? Fretted and fretless 6, a fretless 5 and two fretted fives. I can't imagine any more strings, and am long past the need for any sort of four-string in the arsenal.

As of slightly less than a year ago (I think) the wait time for a Wal got so long that Paul shut down the order queue; you can't even order one now no matter how patient you promise to be.

Yeah, not going there. I've never, ever wanted one of those.

I am thinking of reaching out to Mark for a lesson, though.

Just kidding! I actually have an 8-string and a doubleneck (4-string fretless & Bass VI style short scale 6 string) but no fretless 8 - thank goodness, would probably drive me over the edge!

Your new bass looks like it will be awesome!

Hard to believe I bought mine for 1500 about 20 years ago. New ones are about 9 thousand.

That's amazing. Even if I were a giant rock star who made dump trucks full of money by playing bass I can't imagine paying that much and waiting that long for a bass guitar.

Yeah, the wait and the money. I feel like I really hit the jackpot on this one, it's still the best bass I've ever played, and I don't see that changing.
