Honestly, it’s just because I have come around to separating editing samples and composition, so I need to do the editing, and I’m already at my computer too much. Think more “Cooledit” than “Cubase.”

hiss in really quiet or sparse parts is a problem. a lot of times i can deal with some mess, but if i hear the hiss or it detracts from the music, it bothers me—a lot.

Is it hiss or maybe it could be the floor noise you got by raising some levels at some point in the gain staging of your session?
What exactly is on the recorded track you are trying to eleminate said « hiss » and how was it recorded?

I had some string like playing with the Piano (VST).
There is definitly FX that just works awesome with the low frequenzys.
I need more pedals for the bass, it could help change something i´d figure.
( low vs. hi response on FX) Yet my spectral FX do not like too low frequenzys too much
I find low frequencies require different design ideas for pedals. Like, phasers sound great but not at the same settings that you’d use for a synth pad or a guitar.
In other news, TwistedWave has a very not beautiful interface but seems simple and highly functional as a stereo audio editor for iPad.
@Ugly: I think file management has gotten better on iPads. Some old stuff is still using AudioShare, etc., but newer programs can easily interface with Dropbox, your iPad’s hard drive, etc.

My problem is certainly located about one foot and a half in front of the iPad screen.
The fruits of last night's labour. Some sketches with just a voice recording and the Cosmos. I think this is going to work.
The drifting part of perc, though I also messed with the perc part of perc but forgot to hit "record." Next time.

Been spending way too many hours trying to get some shape to the next Snipecatcher record. By about 4:30 this morning, I may have come up with a 12 song sequence that works for me. Trying to push myself in new directions. Not being afraid of simpler melodies if I like em. Trying not to put frantic, glitched out perc on every dang song!
I need to rewrite a lyric and recut that vocal, tweak a few mixes and it’s off to mastering

this is what my research tells me. sometimes i don’t care; sometimes times it feels like it’s ruining the piece.
have you had any luck getting rid of it?
