This is a real concern for me. I walked away from Spotify entirely (after having been a regular subscriber) because of Spotify's censorship.

I've seen some discussion on a couple of places about it. It seems mostly pessimistic and I generally agree with the pessimism. Epic isn't buying them because they love independent musicians so very much, it's part of a strategy, with profit as the driving force behind it.
That said, Bandcamp is the only place I distribute my music right now and I don't currently have plans to change it. I'm going to release my new album tomorrow (Bandcamp Friday) and buy a bunch of stuff (mostly from Ukrainian artists and labels this time). But I won't be overly surprised if they break the promises they've made and it becomes a worse place both to share/sell music and to find/buy it.

thanks for that. i skimmed steve’s thing. seemed to mirror the link i put up.
the one positive thing i got out of it is iy possibly being better in an international scale.
the problem in today’s world is that it takes a lot of money to do something like bandcamp. so, even if an alternative comes up, it’ll probably be rickety in terms of its tech initially and a target for someone else to make bank on it if it get successful in the long run.
But at least Bandcamp has proven there is a market for an indie platform, so if the new Bandcamp becomes too corporate someone will have the motivation to fill that void.

I got a really nice effect for a song recently with the Zoia where I made a pad-like sound with delay and verb but did essentially a multiband tremolo where each band bass had randomized trem speed. I wasn't setting out to do that. I was just experimenting, but that rather simple thing ended up sounding really sweet.
Remember when google bought youtube? Yeah, not good.
For my part, I really don't care about getting my music to a bigger market. Or any market. Bandcamp is a place I put my stuff that is well-organized and professional enough and allows me to point people to to it by providing links. So if bandcamp starts that censorship crap like the social media sites and spotify are doing I'll be looking to move on. Ditto if they turn it into an ad revenue nightmare like soundcloud did; I still have my soundcloud account but I never use it anymore. Bandwidth limits coupled with obnoxious ads caused me to tune out.
It's a big internet, something else will come along if they ruin this.
BTW, I didn't get an email from them, yet. Is that supposed to happen?
