yeah, that would be interesting. not sure that’s the plan. took carey a while to think about fretless. i told him years ago, but juan aldrete finally got him to do it.
Okay, so I logged some time with it. A few thoughts:
It is as well built as everyone says
It is on the quiet side but that's not a huge deal
It sounds great
I wish I could drive the filter more, but it can get a little distorted
The modulation options are fantastic.
I have to be careful not to switch patches when pressing buttons, but the interface is very very good otherwise.
The synth really is its own thing. Looks like a Roland, has PPG-like waves, applied the supersaw concept to everything in Super Mode, and has a SSM filter.
Here's something that started out as the INIT sawtooth setting, and is just a held chord with lots of intersecting modulations: it is very fast to get things modulating one another. In the middle there's momentary gap. I'm switching from normal mode, which has voice panning (like on a Prophet) to Super mode. Even with Soundcloud's compression, I think you'll hear a difference.
No external effects or processing.
To do:
Try it in mono
Run it through overdrive (like the "drive" knob on Sequential synths)
Explore the user waves more
Run Maths into the CV input
That reminds me a bit of Jon Hopkins and some of the other chillout stuff I was into about 10 years ago.
Confirmed hearing loss particularly sub 250 Hz, which is what I thought.
I wonder if anyone not a bass player would even notice a hearing loss <250Hz?
On the Right Ear High Frequency Audiogram is there some significance to the 16, 18, and 20kHz data points not being connected with a through-line like all the others?
My hearing is a bit worse in my left ear than my right, and rather than have one better ear I'd maybe rather have them suck equally (within reason, of course). As it stands if I EQ something for my left ear hearing, it will sound different in my right ear. I suppose we can take some solace in knowing that the great Owsley "Bear" Stanley also had different ability to hear in each ear: Invalid Link Removed
