Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

my only caveat about synth into bass amp *might* be that an osc can be continuous signal, whereas strings have different attacks and decay.

that being said, i did run a set of taurus pedals into a separate walter woods head (that *is* funny!) in one band in the 80s. i’m not sure i would do that now.

more recently i’ve run both bass and synth into a mixer into powered monitors and mixed accordingly.

you never know how it works for you until you try.

Empress just posted a quick tip on IG. They showed a delay into a reverb with a tremolo set at the end of the chain. The delay and reverb create a pad effect, and the trem does rhythmic chopping to create patterns. Not groundbreaking, but a good idea to toy with. Time to patch up the Zoia.

Here's a riddle:

I want to have a pedalboard-like setup for my Linnstrument and Micromonsta. One option would be to just velcro them to a board, wire them up, and put them in a case. But I'm not super keen on velcro, because I might sometimes want to take the MM2 home to program it, and I would have to take the feet off the Linnstrument for the velcro to work, which I might also want to use separately from time to time.

So I'm basically looking for a pedalboard/DJ coffin style setup for my synth stuff for my band, but for it to be easy to disassemble when I want. Has anyone found any ingenious non-velcro solutions?

In other news, against my better judgment, I just ordered a Hapax. It's my 2nd hardware sequencer after the Vector, but the MPE and all-in-one form factor is very intriguing, and its limitations are limits I can live with.

nope. velcro has been my go-to. smaller pieces are sometimes better.

decided to get the loupe, by the time it got here, i had completely changed direction. guess i'm fickle (or dumped too much money and energy into eurorack stuff).

craigslist here i come.

Been looking for that for years. I've used velcro, wire twist ties (this almost works, but it's not ideal), and just zip ties (which have to be cut and replace with every pedal move). They all suck, but so far velcro sucks the least I guess. If you find something better let us know.

nothing specific, just that the last few times i’ve played with people i’ve used *zero* pedals. i’m just not motivated to do it right now, as most of my gear energy is in the modular rabbit hole.

Hey, music bizz can’t go much lower in the crapshoot….. or can it?
Seems they want to keep the same revenue sharing model as before.

I’ve given up on all this a long time ago after getting burned too many times.
