My San Diego friend who collaborates with me on ambient stuff has another collaboration that he just dropped. It was done with three musicians spread around the US, and has lots of sample based “found sounds” along with video.

I haven’t watched or listened to anything more than the sample video, but I couldn’t resist ordering both on “the spike” which arrived today. Here’s a great promo item. One rail spike, with QR codes stuck on one side to allow you download access. Fantastic!

Sorry, but you cannot download a synth. Only software and data can be downloaded. Synths get shipped to your house via truck or in the trunk of your car.

And you're right about it being hilarious BS. Even funnier coming from Kia (which, BTW, when I was growing up, meant "killed in action", not something I want on the back of my car lol)

We actually drive a 2011 Kia Soul. They lied about the gas mileage and lost a class action suit because of it. However, you can stuff in a whole drum set, and guitar and bass amps, and a guitar and bass and two people in it for a gig.

I may be the only person on this thread who likes space rock, but apropos of the P bass rounds and distortion discussion, there are some very nice bass tones on this record, which I am thorough enjoying.

I absolutely LOVE Hum, though I'm not 100% sure if they count as space rock. I keep meaning to check out Failure.

I am also a huge Hum fan. When Inlet came out in June 2020 it was the happiest/most excited my wife and I had been at that point in the pandemic. We were over the moon. We lived in Chambana in their heyday so they are definitely a moment in our musical journeys. If you like them and want to try Failure, start with Fantastic Planet, which is the "classic" Failure record.

Modular jam session tonight with my good friend I haven’t seen in two years. It got weird, in the best possible way. There were a lot of “who’s making that sound?” moments.

He reminded me of our rehearsal for a gig years ago. We hadn’t seen each other for a while at the time. He walked into my house with his gear and all I said was “I made some space for you over there, and here’s a stereo cable connection.” Then we jammed without a word for over an hour. That’s almost exactly how tonight went

Funny band practice today… I dialed my pedals in earlier on the week so all was good… have my kangra fuzz filter volume set lower as I play with my green muff on the whole song then use the fuzz on a bridge part followed by the filter for the ending bars of the bridge for filter sweeps.

The volume knob got shifted whilst moving my board… instead of putting on the fuzz so it was at the same volume as normal it was just a wide open baahhhhhhhhhh… oh nooooo*smash the foot switch trying to turn it off constantly*

synthy part turned into a good laugh at the end of the song with band mates hahah oops!

also found a modal skulpt is insanely cheap… looks decent ish for basic mono bass / basic pads type sounds? cheap but more usable than a volca or behringer tb303 or something?

The Behringer is not a bass synth like you probably want, I suspect. It's more "bass" as in "acid bass." I tried a Modal Skulpt once at a shop and didn't love the interface, but YMMV.
