American Vintage 75

Well, I just found what I think is a really good deal, and clicked the buy button on ebay for this. It's an 08 with EMG's added, and a BA Bridge.

Bought it for $899, and there is a bit of cosmetic issue where the Vol/Tone knobs are, but I can live with that.

Does anyone have an opinion on these basses, and whether or not the EMG's will make it sound better. If not, any recommendations on the passive pups to replace would be appreciated.

Any feedback is appreciated in advance!

Here is a link to the bass:

Wow - great price!

I have an '06 model, and it's the best Jazz I've ever played. I really think Fender hit it out of the park with the AV'75RI (...at least with the one I have :p).

I have no experience with replacement p'ups for it, though. Frankly, I wouldn't want to replace the stock p'ups - they sound perfect to me.

Congratulations - enjoy!

:bassist:

:edit:
The same seller has another AV'75RI for sale - 2011, all stock. The aution ends April 15th @ 8:51 PDT. The price is sitting at $950 right now.

What is your price range?
For good quality pickups that won't break the bank too much, a pair of Bartolini's should do the trick. I bought a neck pickup from bestbassgear.com for $65, should be able to get a set for about $120.
If you want to spend more, I've heard great things from Seymour Duncan's Antiquity and Nordstrand J style pickups.
IMO I'd go with the Bartolini's but its up to you.

Well, I have not heard them yet. I just purchased the bass last night on the bay..and it is being shipped tomorrow. If I don't like the sound, I am going to switch out for passive pups, I think....
