Amp and cab help

No that amp is not going to be enough. I'd highly suggest you go right up to at least an amp rated at 500-watts rms into 4Ω and buy an 8Ω cab for it. It will deliver about 250-watts into one 8Ω cab and I'd suggest (and use) an 8 ohm 210 cab for that. Cab should handle 300-watts rms or more so 250-watts should be fine with it. My 8Ω [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] handles 700-watts and I feed it 400-watts from my DNA-800. Then when you need to play a bigger place you can buy a second 8Ω - 210 cab. Two 8Ω cabs will put a 4Ω load on the amp and unleash the other 250-watts rms that the 500-watt amp can put out. That gives you a de facto 500-watt 410 set-up, which should be plenty for any place you play without FOH reinforcement. Down the road you may eventually want to go up to an 800-watt amp.

Take a look at the Eden TN-501 class D amp. It puts out 500-watts into 4Ω and weighs 5.3-lbs. You may also want to take a look at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] amp. I use one of those. It puts out 800-watts rms into either 4Ω or 2Ω and has a built in compressor with adjustable threshold and ratio controls. It weighs 4.8-lbs. Street price on the DNA-800 amp is $799. I think the TN501 is about $150 less than the DNA-800 amp. You may be able to find them used for less. Street price on DNS-210 is ~$849 and used is usually around $600 though I saw one for $499 once.

Be aware with most amps if you buy one 4Ω cab, you won't be able to add a second cab later because that would drop the ohms load to 2Ω. Most amps have a 4Ω minimum ohms load. If you get an amp that can handle a 2Ω load, then you can get two of the 4Ω cabs. But if it doesn't handle a 2 Ω load, you can't and you really should get an 8Ω cab so you have room to add another cab later.

I’m not there yet, but aspire to be a grumpy old geezer some day. The summa cum laude of old geezers. I do have a wonky back so, like you, I’m always concerned with the weight of any potential bass, head, and cabinet.

I’d suggest that you consider an Aguilar Tone Hammer (500 or 700) head and Aguilar SL112 cabinets. The head weighs 4 lbs, the cabinet weighs 25 lbs. Most importantly, they sound fantastic.

Good luck.

Hi guys. Im a old gezzer who would like to find a band to play with. I have a question about what to go for regarding amp and speaker cab.
It has to be loud enough with a full band. And maybe small gigs (in time )
Im interested in a small portable amp head (the old back hurts) and a suitable cab to go with it.
Im looking at the Warwick Gnome. Its 200w at 4 ohm and 130w at 8 ohm.
Will it be big enough? And do you think that the matching cab with 2x10s (Gnome Pro 2/10/4 is a good match? Or should i go 1x15 instead?
I want a good midrange power. Style of music: Status Quo, Georgia Sattelites, Rose Tattoo etc.
I know its a matter of personal taste regarding sound. But i cant go out to try before i buy because there a no musical instruments stores in my area.
Hope someone can give me some guidance.
Thanks in advance
I'd look to something that gives you 300 watts @8ohms and a 2x10" cab. If you want it easy, I'd recommend the MarkBass CMD102P. It's loud and portable. If you ever need more, there's an extension cab and you'll have 500 watts!
*Currently in Sale for $1019!! A bargain for what you get.

It locks open, over six years with a 2x12 and never a wobble.
Unless you run then the cart shifts a bit, but the wheels are solidly locked open.

Over speed bumps, up curbs and stairs no problem.

To prevent the bottom of the cab from getting scuffed from the aluminum nipples I put a thick plastic shelf liner with double sticky tape on it.

Mine showed up today - and this is what I was looking for.
It has smaller wheels that my current version - but these lock, so they don't "toe in" when you are pulling the cart ("unstable" would be an understatement)

Thank you again for the recommendation...it goes in to service this weekend...
