Amp feature that you find usefull in a gigging situation

I'll take sweepable mids over all other features. Yes, there are other features that are very useful (a mute, for instance) but two sweepable mid bands are, hands down, what I would find the most useful in a gigging situation.

I've never understood this term..."sweepable mids" What exactly does that mean to me and why is it so beneficial? Inquiring minds want to know.

I couldn't possibly be any happier with any amp than this one! Foot switchable overdrive(with two to pick from), the VMT channel sounds and *feels* just like a beautiful cranked tube head at just 5 lbs. The clean tone is perfect, zero noise anywhere to be found either direct or through my fEARful cab with/without overdrive. And its not "cheesy" sounding like most amp distortions'....

Its got everything I want and doesn't try to do *everything*, a master of the important stuff rather than a jack of all trades/master of none. Highly recommend everyone try this.

My point is I dont need any pedals with this, and also don't need an 80 lbs tube head to get my desired sound. I'm good

Problem is, only goes down to 4ohms. I need 2ohms. Therefore, D800 + B7K for me.

And as far as amp features, my personal favorite are combo Speakon imputs (speakon + 1/4")

Things every bass amp should have:
-a mute switch on the front panel with an indicator light
-DI with a level control and that is switchable pre/post EQ
-stereo aux in
-headphone out
-switchable input pad
-combo output jacks (speakon and 1/4")

Agree with all except the 1/4".
Just need TWO speakon's.

Of course I bought the Mesa D800 that has all these features...

Sweepable mids just means that you have control over the frequency that the mids can be controlled at. This gives you much more flexibility.

For example, many preamps just have LOW, MID, HIGH. If you like the frequencies the amp designers choose, this is great! Some give you LOW MIDS and HIGH MIDS. More choice, but still limited. Sweepable mids (which my iamp500 have picture has) gives you much more control.

I really like a mute switch with an indicator light. I use my stompbox tuner when I use my tuner, but when I don't a mute on t he amp is really nice.

Sweepable mid is layman
term for 'semi-parametric' meaning
the frequency at which the
-/+ knob can cut or boost is variable
(not fixed).
That's as basic as I can put it.
Now a fully parametric band opens up a whole new can of worms.

I love being able to set the OD channel volume to zero and use a footswitch as a mute. Really handy if I want to switch instruments during a gig without turning off my amp.

Some weeks ago I'm started desing a tube bass preamp...
So, sometimes I've a gig and was wondering what a gigging amp features are desirable in that situation... I was thinking in a pair of EQ sections: a fender and an ampeg style that can be selectable via a footswitch.. I'm playing in a cover's band..
So,... what do you think is usefull in an amp for you in a gig situation? two channels? three channels? multiple EQ settigs? whatever...

The VLF and VLE on a Momark 800 seem to be most of what I need. I hardly touch them but sweepable mid are a must as well.

How are you going to get signal from your bass to the amp without a 1/4" input?
