Ok got a second part to my first question, I was informed yesterday that I'm probably going to be playing in an auditorium, and some outside gigs thru out the summer, but still every Sunday in the small church, so should I get a small combo for Sundays, and a half stack for the others, or some kind of combo that can add an ext. cab, or what do y'all think?
I use an Acoustic 260 mini stack in a church setting. It's 100 watts, and sounds great with my Hofner bass, or a Jack Casady bass. Excellent tone, plenty of volume, and it's easy to carry. They go for about $300.00, but you can often find them on sale.
I use a Carvin MB15 with a 15" Carvin Ext cab. sounds great without the ext, but is much better for larger venues and outdoors with the extra cab. Has a great line out and built in compression which works quite well. Each cab weighs about 30 lbs, and the amp puts out 250 watts. Right around 600.00 for the package shipped. Makes a great mini stack!
