Double Bass Amp for Electric/Upright Bass

15K!!!

What about the one you bought your son?

are there any KCString basses, that are between 1500-4000 that have are plain sexy and have a tone to die for?

They have some inexpensive student models in their shop. I got my son's for right about $1,000 with a bag and a bow. It's a pretty good bass for what we paid.
I recommend you go to the shop. There are some really nice basses in that price range--and they look and sound great. ;)

I live in NJ so I don't think I can travel to Kansas, but my teacher is endorsed by them so I think I can get one directly from him.

Freddels, what exactly does the sansamp do... will it make the electric sound better through an AI head and lets say a wizzy cabinet? how expensive are they?

I have the Clarus. At 400 watts into 4 ohm (wizzy 12) it is PLENTY loud for any jazz gig I've done.

I used to do a big band hit with a GK MB 150 with an extension and it was plenty.

Also I watched your video and you guys are no louder than any high school or college band. Granted it is a big group but it didn't strike me as crazy loud.

that is good to know, I thought we were unusually loud. So do you think the clarus with the wizzy 10 or 12 I haven't decided yet will be good judging by that video.

I guess I am going to end up having the same rig as you, do you have the clarus 1 or 2?

damn! so many questions

Yeah, if I get the Clarus it will definitely the 2 channel version.

but things are getting more complicated

I just read a thread the guy with the picture of the cat playing upright made and he was talking about how his clarus with the wizzy 10 would cut out when he turned it loud and he got a EA head with a wizzy.

Judging by the video do you think I will be fine volume wise with a clarus and wizzy 10?

micro300/wizzy 10 compared to a claurs 2/wizzy 10? whats the word

...i wish i had a store by me that carried all this stuff, it would make things so much easier.

Ight cool, now it just comes down to money.

some last questions before I spend all this cabbage

I know there is a 12M and just a 12, I am assuming the M line is better?

clarus 2/wizzy 12 micro300/wizzy 12 which would give me more volume? which one is better for upright and electric?

The Sansamp fattens up the tone of the EB. They cost about $200

You're in NJ! Contact Bob G. and take a road trip over to his place and try out all the EA and AI stuff right there. He won't steer you wrong.

I might not be able to get down to Bob's before I need to order this rig...

so that is my last question

I am seeing thread about people saying they have sold there wizzy 12 for wizzy 10

I have the Wizzy 12 M-Line. Awesome cab. I'd never trade it for a smaller speaker. My uderstanding is you are going to get a little more volume out of the 12 too due to the surface area of the cone. Bigger speakers generally move more air.

That said I'll probably pick up a Wizzy 10 one of these days too.

I have the iAmp 500 (supposed to be the same tone as the Micro 300) and it sounds great with both Wizzy cabs (reg 12 and/or 10). I just got a Clarus SL and it sounds good too. The EA heads have a more powerful eq section and that's why I use the Sansamp with the Clarus SL. I'm going to have to try out the Micro 300 one of these days.
The Wizzy 12 sounds deeper and will get louder. I think it sounds better with EB but the Wizzy 10 sounds better with URB and it gets plenty loud but just not as loud as the Wizzy 12. I have no experience with the M-Line Wizzy . . . yet. :)

No matter which one you get, you're going to want to get the other sooner or later.

Yeah, haha I am buying a new upright too but I have a ton of things to sell... amps, an upright, and more so that should help out a lot.

But if anyone has something to say about those 2 combinations i was wondering about i could use some information on the them... not by themselves but being compared to the other.

I wish I could go to Bobs place but I need to order this stuff very soon and might not be able to make it down considering I can't even drive... thats why I have i so many questions, ha.
