Amp help please!

I was giving a Heathkit bass amp from a cousin and i thought this would be the best place to get information on it. I wasnt able to find much info on it, even on the heathkit site. What can you guys tell me about this amp? What might its value be? How old? Are these amps particularly desireable? ANY info would be appreciated!
I have bigger pictures if anyone would like to see them.

Wow, I'll have to dust off the mental cobwebs! It looks to date from the 60's or early 70's to me. They weren't particularly desirable then and I doubt if they've gathered any value since. They were mail order kits that you assembled at home.

I don't think Heathkit is still around. They used to make some good, low priced hi-fi kit amps, preamps, etc and test equipment along with companies like Eico and Dtnakit.

As lonote says, there's not much of a market for them in the musical instrument field. Their old tube hi-fi gear is being collected though. That one looks to be solid state, but I may be wrong.

I used to use an Eico 60 watt tube power amp that had a tube preamp, a copy of the Bassman circuit, added. Also a similar 60 watt Dynakit. They were good bass amps for that time and sounded better than any Fender or Ampeg amps then. Sunn amps were basically Dybakit amps in the beginning.

I still have a pair of working 60 watt Dynakit MK III amps for home stereo. They sound very good.

I don't think you'll get much on a resale of that amp even if it's working, unfortunately. But it will make a good conversation piece. Open it up and take a look inside to see what sort of amp it is.

ahh thanks for that history lesson. Ive opened it up and as you stated it is a solid state amp. thanks for the info guys

I used one for years that I built. It was a great rig. In fact, I still have it. Haven't used it in a long time though. I have never played it with the volume over 2, even in large clubs. It has two aluminum dome 12" speakers in a sealed cabinet. Great sound with my '65 Precision. My other amp is a B-15, so I have some idea of what a great sound is. It always had a slight hiss, like white noise, but in a club, it was never noticeable. I'll dig out a picture and post it.
