Amp to cab ohmage confusion. Please help?

Hi there. I have an Ashdown ABM EVO III rackmount amp which is 575 watts minimum 4 ohms. Does this mean i can use it with an 8 ohm cab that is 300 watts as it'll be running at half power? Hope someone can help? Cheers,a Dave.

Yes, in fact you would be fine running 1x 8ohm, 2x 8ohm, or 1x 4 ohm cab, just keep the volume reasonable depending on how much speaker wattage you have available vs the amp power you are pushing...with this in mind, just keep things reasonable regarding power ratings, and pay attention to audible and visible signs of stress on amp and cabs and you are likely fine.
Its more about how hard you push the gear, not so much how much is has on-hand or how much its rated to handle.
