Using DB and my GK MB150 combo amp -- My amp has an XLR line out. Can I run this from the amp directly into a house PA? Or do I need to go into a DI or mixer or some other device between my amp and the PA? Thanks in advance.

Double Bass Amp to PA, or do I need a DI?

I have had good results with the XLR out from my MB150 to sound boards for many years.
In only one case did a sound guy ask me to make a change to my on-stage settings: he was getting a very hot signal from my XLR out, so I brought down the gain on my preamp and this gave him a little more room on his side. Otherwise, no issues.
A DI box is handy to have just-in-case, but unless there is a particular problem or situation you are trying to address, I think you can be confident in the XLR out on your GK. That's what its for.

XLR is the connector type. There are two signal types that commonly use these connectors: Line-level and Microphone-level signals. Line-level signals are at a higher voltage level than mic-level. So, when you go into the PA you need to match the output level from your amp to the input level of the PA. A DI output produces a mic-level signal and would connect to a mic-level input on the PA, if your amp provides a line-level signal then you need to go into the PA through a line-level input.

Jim, thanks that is indeed very helpful. This information explains a lot of things that I didn't know (I am electronically challenged, to say the least). Thanks for a very helpful link. After I fully digest the info, I may have more questions, which I will post.
