Ampeg 410HLF speaker replacement

Isn't Ampeg putting Eminence speakers in the HLFs anyway?

I want to replace the blown speakers with factory correct ones, but I have a feeling that if I go to Ampeg, I'll end up with the wrong ones now that they're bankrupt and being made overseas. But that's why I'm here, trying to gain info! ;)

I think that's what I'm going to end up doing. I want matching OEM speakers to replace the bad ones. Now then, anyone had any luck contacting Eminence/Ampeg directly?

You have to contact Loud Technologies for Ampeg parts and service. What with the future of the Loud / Ampeg conncetion being somewhat spotty right now, I'd move quickly. Have you tried contacting an Ampeg warranty center in your area? They should be your best bet.

The drivers in the HLF are made by Eminence, at least in the USA cabs but I'm not sure on the Vietampeg cabs. My guess is that Eminence makes them to Ampeg's specs.

Just from the picture, the BP102's look very close. Maybe you could just get 4 and then they would be all matched. Then keep the 2 old ones for spares. Even 4 new BP102's is cheaper than a new cabinet.

I read somewhere that the HLF and the HE cabs share the same speaker. The porting in the HLF lets the speakers put out more bottom. BTW, I also use a 410HLF and love the tone with my Genz GBE1200.

I know it's a US made cab, probably LOUD era. Did SLM make the ported 410HLF? I asked the seller for the codes on the back of the speakers, I'll have a little more insight. I'm working on contacting LOUD/Ampeg and Eminence now.

As far as I know the speakers in the 410HLF are standard types. I don't think Ampeg makes any cabs with neo's, but I might be wrong.

I like my HLF but I find myself gassing for a Genz Uber bass 410 cab to match up with my GBE1200. I might sell the Ampeg and my Ashdown ABM 414T and pick up one. Still thinking it over.

If it's a USA cab and also Loud, it could be the last of the stuff that SLM turned out before they sent everything overseas. My HLF is asian but possibly could still contain some USA parts. It was purchased right after the overseas move. I heard that some USA parts were shipped over there early on and used in production. Who knows. It's a nice cab either way, but I'm wanting to get a Genz Uber cab so I might sell the HLF.

When you contact Loud be sure and pick up an extra bulb for the tweeter protection circuit. They do fail and I've heard they are hard to find.

Do not contact Eminence, they won't talk to you. They only talk to dealers and manufacturers and since you qualify as neither, you'll just get the RODNEY DANGERFIELD and that never feels good.

Go to the AMPEG website and fill out the PARTS REQUEST form and they will get back to you with a price and availabilty. Even though the cabs are built in ASIA they are still built with Eminence speakers, they wouldn't be installing CAM-FONG models in your cabs.

I will go and pull the grill and remove a speaker from my 410HLF here and get you the part number off it and post it later. BOB

OK the speakers in the SVT-410HLF I can't verify a B410HLF as it is a lessor cab and I dont own one. You dont want a B series anyway.

The speakers are 4 OHMS so they are in series parallel The eminence part #10401B,

The Ampeg # I believe is 86-510-04.

It's definately a cooler speaker than the ones in my 810E cabs. These have a rear vented voice coil and not the semi-see through dust cap on the 32ohmers.

My 410 is a DVXDT2 serial, so thats a February of 07 manufacture.

And for the record, Eminence is being very cool about this. Anthony Lucas, the "Sr. Lab Technician" got back to me less than 6 hours after I sent my initial email. He told me that if I could provide him with the speaker info, that he could help me find the right match. He also stressed that OEM speakers are proprietary and can only be attained through Ampeg. The last thing I want to do is send money to a sinking ship...

For some reason the quote dropped a number there, #10401B. Thats cool the tech got back to you. Yes I suppose they want to keep musicians happy as everybody is making speakers these days. I was glad to help.

I wouldn't worry about sending $$$ to AMPEG yet. If they answer the phone and give you a price, they are still shipping stuff. BOB
