Of course, all I got out of the deal was the ability to buy at the "artist" discount, which was 20% off the wholesale price they charge dealers. Bassbones isn't claiming he bought an Ampeg rig. He is merely re-posting a quote he found in a thread in another forum in response to tekdiver's post ("I've never heard an artist tell anyone what they get from their endorser ...."). Bassbones is providing an example that he apparently feels rebuts tekdiver's post. He probably could have communicated that a bit more clearly, but you guys are taking his post out of context and ignoring the quotation marks and the link to the other thread.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Febs has this right. Even so, I doubt that "billsworld" or anyone else got that deal by merely asking a rep for it.

No i didn't buy the rig as i said before to much controversy about its output and i wanted something smaller didnt realise it wasn't a micro. Thinking about a markbass with a sansamp in front of it

Sounds nice! I'd look at a GB Streamliner as well, might not need the Sansamp (or VT pedal, my fave).

joe i dont think u read the whole thread. i was asking about the ampeg 7pro. I told JImmyM that i didnt want his input as he's endoresed by ampeg and biased. i then found out that they tested it and it doesn't give out the 1000 watts it says it does. so im no longer interested.

Now tell me what controversy surrounds the mark bass amps and sansamp products??

Depends on what test you go by. The test tek did, did put out almost 1000 watts. Lots of info going on in there.

Think I'll give at miss after reading through all of that thread. Seems like there's a lot of negative things being said about this amp. Lots of good to but I'd rather something that has less controversy surrounding it.

And why do you think you need a SamsAmp? because i read on here they sound great with them and heard there an awesome pedal.

If you want to use a Sansamp to cop an Ampeg sound (and plenty of people do that), there are cheaper ways to do that than running it into a Markbass head. Including (but not limited to) getting an Ampeg PF500 with either the 1x15 or the 2x10 cab that pairs with them. That would run you a little more than the Markbass head by itself.

Lots of people love the Markbass sound, but it does have a sound of its own. A Sansamp is just going to cover that up and give you a different sound. As far as power rating, 1000w is a TON of power; David Ellefson uses a 1000w Hartke on tour with Megadeth and only turns it up to 2.

Anyway, good luck with your bass playing. You should stick around the forum, there's lots of good information to be had on here.

You're right, I was being a bit flippant. In all honesty though, amps like that are crazy loud, and IMO (and ONLY in my opinion!) you're better off running into a PA. But, I know some venues don't offer that option. The point I was trying to make was that most bass players do not need 1000w of power for their gigs. An amp like that is usually overkill.

I have to admit though, it is kind of awesome that you can crank up a 900w amp. Bet that thing moves some air!
