Ampeg 810 into a 4-door Civic

well about 5 years ago I was contemplating buying an 8x10 (Ashdown) and was about to buy (2nd hand) when I thought I'd better get the dimensions.... I got the dimensions online from Ashdown, then set about measuring the space in the back of my Mazda 3 hatchback - unfortunately it was a no go as the Mazda was not big enough in the back to fit the 8x10.
I decided to go the other route and 'downsize' rather than upsize - and I'm glad that I did

if I had a larger station-wagon and was about 20 years younger sure I'd go for it, but my band doesn't play any places where an 8x10 would be necessary

Anyone here carry the fridge in their small car?

I have a Honda Fit that can carry the Ampeg 810SVT. As a matter of fact I am selling one and will deliver to a hundred mile radius if you buy it!

Every time I hear someone speak of an 8x10 box I laugh about the day I was playing a festival in NC. I had all 5 guys from the band following us standing front of stage raving about my tone on stage and that it sounded great FOH as well. When I finished my set i was heading down the stairs backstage with my Genzl-Benz NEO 2x12 in my right hand, the Magellan 800 head in its bag on my shoulder, a bass on my back and another in my left hand. As I sidled by 4/5 of that band struggling up the stairs with an SVT and 8x10 one of them told the bassist, "Why don't you have one of those amps, dumba$$?!!!?" Classic!

I'm a fan of the 2x12 situation too, fits in the trunk of a Civic too:thumbsup:

Change the vehicle.

Actually these days we're playing much quieter and often enough I don't take an amp at all - just go through the PA. But for a big wedding I just love the feel of the 8x10 behind me - provided it's on the ground floor.

+1 on that. My friend had a mid 90's camry and used to pull the door insert off of the right/rear door when he had a show. One that armrest is gone you can get more in.
