Ampeg 810e question

I recently purchased A Ampeg Svt VR and I want to get an 810e along with it. My concern is that I have never really played a sealed tweeterless cab before and was wondering about the clarity of the 810e. Does it have enough clarity in the high end? I currently have cabs that are ported w/ tweeters and was also wondering how the 810e stacked up against a Aggie DB810? I play in a rock band and like a nice grind to my tone so i dont want anything that is too muddy ( Another concern I have with the 810e, is it real muddy??)

don't know about the aggie.

the 8x10 is not muddy. there are some darker years of the cab. around 98'-05' are the darkest i think. they were made out of osb. i would get a new one. they sound awesome.

as far as the highs. there is not as much highs as maybe your other cabs. i think they have just the right amount of highs. especially for rock. honestly, you can't go wrong with an 8x10e imo.

i'm sure others will chime in with more info.

I have an SVT VR and run it into a Bergantino NV610. Absolute magic and at least the equal of the old Ampeg 810 I used to run it into. It sounds tight, punchy and has plenty of mids and much easier to schlep. No doubt there will be plenty of others advising you to try this combination - give it a try if you can. I cannot see you missing highs (we are bass players, after all.
