Ampeg 8x10 in vehicles

I have a Honda Fit and it is great for hauling gear. It's no problem getting an 8x10 in the back with the seats folded down. And I average around 35 mpg between city and highway driving.

I keep seeing comments about the Honda Fit both here and elsewhere. Maybe it's a sign to check one out. I just wish the Mini wasn't so "mini".

I used to have an '02 Saab 9-3 hatchback. That thing could haul the bass rig (8X10"), the PA, two guitar rigs, and all the instruments. Basically, an entire band's worth of gear, minus the drum kit.

Even when loaded down, it'd still get between 25-28 mpg. And it was FAST!

Then I traded it for a truck...

Yeah, amazing what you can fit in a 9-3.

Honda CR-V.

Cavernous trunk when the back seats are down. Gas mileage is not as good as a small car, but better than most vans and SUV's. Handling is good for a tall vehicle, and the all wheel drive is nice in the wet and in the winter. It's a nice highway cruiser- no speed demon, but the acceleration is adequate, particularly if you drive a stick.

And the reliability has been excellent. You don't get paid if you don't show up...

As long as you don't have car seats to account for, you can fit a lot of stuff in a lot of different cars.

We have an '02 CR-V. AC has blown up twice. Once, literally. It was like a grenade. I usually drive an '03 Civic and it's had more that its share of mechanical issues. My previous Honda drove forever but I'm leery now. It just seems like nothing is built to last any more. Crap, grumbling like that is one of the first signs of getting old!

I've hauled my 810 in a 97 Maxima, 04 Accord, 03 Civic, and 03 Camry on top of any larger size van/suv/truck. It can really get into just about anything, not nicely, but it can get in.

HHR with the back seats folded. Hauls the Ampeg 810 nicely, the axle height is better for loading in/out than a pickup or SUV.
