I have a Honda Fit and it is great for hauling gear. It's no problem getting an 8x10 in the back with the seats folded down. And I average around 35 mpg between city and highway driving.

I used to have an '02 Saab 9-3 hatchback. That thing could haul the bass rig (8X10"), the PA, two guitar rigs, and all the instruments. Basically, an entire band's worth of gear, minus the drum kit.
Even when loaded down, it'd still get between 25-28 mpg. And it was FAST!
Then I traded it for a truck...
mine fits in the back of my '07 honda fit with an svt-cl in a case, guitar, pedalboard, and my gf. ha
And the reliability has been excellent.
I bought a truck so I can fit anything I feel like bringing.![]()
