Ampeg B series question

I heard that on a b-2r it is better for the amp to run the volume knob for the power section all the way up and adjust your volume using the volume knob for your input section. Is this true and why is it better?
Also, I have a B-5r does this hold true for this head also? Thanks>>Brian

I have heard that from some folks here that have them. My suggestion would be, turn the knobs however you want to get the tone and volume you want.

I generally run the volume pretty much wide open, around 3 or 4 o'clock, and use the gain setting to manage volume. Have had other amps where could not do that because of hiss/noise. No problem with B5r.

I have no idea why I do it that way. Seems to work.
