Ampeg B100R Rocket Bass Vs Micro VR

Hi guys,

I looking for a studie amp that works well in small gigs and Ampeg is my choice. But, unfortunstely I just played with big ones by this brand, most tube amps. So, I would like your help: wich solution is better, B100R Rocket Bass combo or Micro VR mini stack? Thanks,

Both have very good points. Micro VR stack has a very SVT-like sound for its small size, plus it's quite light, while the B100R does the same for the B-15, although it's a good bit heavier. Hard to go wrong with either for a nice medium duty combo.

Thanks a lot. I'll try to choose on of them tomorrow and I feel more comfortable with your words about these amps.

Well if you're looking for big and boomy low end, neither are going to be a substitute for an SVT 4 Pro and two 410hlf's ;) But if you want a nice little combo with a rolled off low end closer to the 810e that isn't super loud but has great tone, both are good choices IMHO.

Great, It's good to read it! I'll take the B100R! Unfortunately I don't found any B200R in my country (Brasil). At least, at internet stores! It has a tube at preamp and 100w more, right? It's a pity... But, I think that B100R is fine! Thanks again,

I have a Micro VR and a B100R. In my opinion, the B100R is one of the finest, most tube sounding, SS amps ever made. I got my B100R for the exact things you mention, studio and small gigs, and it has worked out great.
I like the Micro VR very well, but it ain't no B100R. It's a surprisingly loud 100 watts, and even for bigger gigs, the B100R will hang in there better than you would think.

You're better off with the B100R. There were rattling issues with the B200R.
The B100R is loud enough, and you're not going to miss that tube in the preamp.

I think you made a very good choice as well. I have been playing my B50R off an on for over 10 years. Love that amp. It was my first real bass amp. I wish I would've gotten the 100 but beggars same be choosers, I bought mine used off an acquaintance then. The tone is magnificent. I think you'll be pleased. If I had a 100 I'd probably play it out.
