ampeg b25 questions

if you have a DVM, you can measure your speaker cab's DC ohms which will give you an idea of what impedance your cab is wired to. just plug a speaker cable into it and measure tip/sleeve or +1 -1 if its a speakon. if it reads around:

3.4 ohms, its a 4 ohm cab
5.1-6.1 ohms, its an 8 ohm cab
if it measures around 12 ohms, its a 16 ohm cab.

Got the dvm out today and checked sleeve/tip. It reads 5.5 so then we're assuming its an 8 ohm cabinet.
Talked to a tech today who actually pulled out a schematic of a b 25 while we talked. He admitted seeing some sort of weird switching/ohmage deal but said it would be no prob to set it up where the speaker plugs were 8 ohms.
He did say u would never want to plug the 16 ohm back into it once we did.
He did ask how long the amp was stored. Said it would be a good idea to bring it in...clean out the cob webs, test the tubes and caps. Said the channel 2 probs were probably just cleaning.
Definitely gonna have them install a grounded powerchord.
On another note......think i just bought a peavey vb-2:D:bassist:
