Ampeg B2RE for $50 new?

I was early but not early enough. When i put my order in they listed both new and used for sale. I put in for 1 new and 1 used. I wasn't early enough for the new (it was cancelled like most other folks) but the used one went through. So I missed out on getting a new one for $50 but I did get a used one delivered to my door for $30.05 so no complaints here.

so you guys that now have an amp you otherwise wouldnt have purchased...

what are your thoughts on the amp?

i know the usual TB reply to these amps is 'they suck', but that wasnt really my impression.

what do you guys who actually have these amps think of them?

I had one from the 90's awhile back. While not the worst amp, it always sounded a little dull to me. Then again, that's how all Ampeg heads sound to me. Even for $400 I would consider one if I were into Ampegs. I paid $300 for a 300w GK new, so I think the price is right.

I had one I got as a B Stock for $375, but sent it back. It just didn't have enough balls until you trottled it about 80% for gigging volume. I Bought the SWR 550X, and had the same issue. I Use the PLX 1602 but also a Peavey T max for back up and primary when the QSC is in the PA rack.

That being said, I would have given it another try for $50 and probably kept it as I am starting to use lower volumes, and push less lows than I used to.

I think it was a great deal for those who got them, and am SURE that MF will make it up hand over fist, even though it is still a mistake on their part.

I did find that if I nudged the front end with a BBE sonic stomp or similar, it really responded well, and played through one at a venue that had the Sansamp bass driver in front, and it was stellar through a svt410Hlf.

Check and see if your PayPal account has a balance.

You have to go in PayPal and transfer the refund to your bank account yourself, or at least I did.

Then they say it will still take 3-4 days to show up in your bank account.
