Ampeg BA210v2 rattle (vibration)

It ain't pretty, but it's the best I can do with the limited space.
Funny thing is, that piece of cardboard shipping box was under the tray when I pulled it out. I talked to the guy I bought it from and he swears he didn't put it in there. He bought it brand new.

You have a lot of good suggestions in this thread. Slipping some weatherstrip or a mouse pad or something similar in there oughta do it!

I knew I would ruffle your feathers...

I always wonder if the kind of grass-roots level, blindly follow and ardently defend, hail corporate! for they can do no wrong, kind of "marketing" shtick I see around here is beneficial to a corporation's bottom line or ultimately ends up frustrating people and turning them away from the brand. I get that people are likely "on the take"or are endorsed by certain brands but it seems pretty bad with both Fender and Ampeg on TB, almost makes me not want to buy from either. Like, are the company perks so great that one can't admit that sometimes a product is a dud or a simple customer service call goes poorly from time to time? I feel like these folks would be well suited to living in North Korea and spouting that their dear leader never defecates and always hits a perfect golf game.

Or maybe this is just a microcosm of our society at large with the way people refuse to admit their favored political candidate could ever do ANYTHING wrong or their favorite athlete could never get a DUI. I dunno, whole thing feels dirty to me haha

I can only speak for myself, but I was on here well before I got any deals with anyone, and I spoke my mind the same as I do now. Of course, I don't go out of my way to insult the companies I endorse, but if I didn't love and use it, I wouldn't endorse it. I've turned down endorsements, too. Ive also spoken pretty honestly about a few products they've made that I'm not all that enthused about. Besides, in this case, there were plenty of other reasons for the amp to develop a rattle that didn't involve the company. And it's a rattle, not a broken amp.

So believe what you want to believe, but that is where I stand. And you would have to ask Ampeg about how they like me, but I'm pretty sure I do way more good than bad. That's how I rock.

Hi i know this is an old thread, but i feel this is important to share. I've lurked for years but have just joined.
Anyway ordered a BNIB ba210v2 and after getting it home and really testing for a couple of days it had a very noticeable buzz and vibration when over about half volume on notes around D ie 10 fret bottom string. Took it back and the shop guy found the same issue and was even able to reproduce it almost exactly on the floor model.
So he was happy to refund. We thought maybe these things are just too powerful for a small combo cab.
Hope that helps someone thinking about these. Shame, because i love the wedge idea but wasn't going to settle for the ba115 as that is no more powerful than my old rumble v2 combo.

Just wanted to put this out there. I have returned three of these amps (BA210v2) within the last month. The first and third had the rattle in the amp compartment that has been described in this thread. The second one had a 60hz buzz that sounded like electricity coming out of the speakers that got louder the longer it was on. The second one also had a rattle in the speaker compartment when you played from Dflat to F (probably a wire hitting the speaker). I bought this based on the reputation that Ampeg used to have in the 80's. Something has definitely gone wrong with their quality control. I am planning to swap it out for another brand. It is too bad. This amp is great in theory. (Weight, power, ext. speaker, kick-back, price) But, if you can't use it...

Happened to mine, but it's a BA110v2. I removed the amp section and put it back in a couple of times, and it has not appeared since. When putting the section back in, I tightened each screw a bit at a time much like you would do for lug nuts, or head bolts.

Same thing with me three years ago, I believe. That 210v2 was one of the best sounding combos I'd heard, but I went through two of them in about a month. Vibration no matter what the volume level was. It was new at the time and I figured there were bugs to work out.

But instead of publicly crapping on the brand, because I still loved their tone, I moved up to a micro rig and it was flawless. I'm currently using the Portaflex series and couldn't be happier. Jimmy was right; don't judge the entire brand by a piece or two. My sound is from using Ampeg above any other brand, even if they broke my heart with that particular combo amp!

Fender Rumble is step a head than Ampeg BA in QC.
