Ampeg brochures from 1992 - 1994, SVP-PRO and B1 content

I've found a lot over the internet, but I was looking for something more like current Ampeg web page... you know like "Ampeg PF-350 is the light, affortable and portable amp...." "the SVP-PRO preamp is a .....with .... from... blabla... for" and a photo :)

I'm just curious, was B1 an "entry level Ampeg" or "something with more modern approach" or "based on SVT-CL preamp we did this" etc etc

Something with a more modern approach. That whole series of amps was designed to lure people who didn't usually like Ampeg amps into liking one Ampeg amp at least. Must have worked. There were several revisions along the way and nowadays the most comparable amp they make is the B2RE, and it still seems to sell well. Ain't my thing, though. I like Ampegs that sound like Ampegs.

I always thought that B2RE was more like "less expensive Ampeg", just like SVT-350/450H.

B1 has tube preamp (2x 12ax7), "classic ampeg" EQ center frequencies (40 - 200 - 4K) with added features like push pull that changes them into more modern approach for slappers. Also solo boost is a nice feature. Sounds tighter than my SVP-PRO preamp, but closer to SVP than my PF-350 head.

I own all of them. B1 and svp-pro.

I have B1R head and SVP-PRO too :) I'm just looking for some more info about the gear I own and love.
I strip my gear apart, look for photos and reviews and collect documentation (schematics, brochures, manuals) to learn about origins of the gear and ideas the producers had when they were inventing it.

Those two pages you uploaded are for me like pages from a super-fun history book, I enjoyed them a lot and I'd love to read more, especially about the preamps :)

I remember the brochure with gray cardboard cover. I surely have this in my attic... (but where exactly...?)
btw: The B2RE (kind of less expensive) is a complete different animal - no tubes - you can use two of them for an HiFi Setup.
Ampeg damanded 2599,-DM in 1992 for the B1. Expensive.

Mine is from '94 too :) Blackface with DI volume pot and no transformer on the DI out.
It does hum a lot, especially on start-up, but it's a mechanical hum - from inside the chassis, not heard in the speakers.

Also the hiss in speakers is louder than normal - B1 and PF-350 are quieter. But my friend from studio says it's a normal thing, he had SVP-PRO for several years, now he has SVT-2PRO and he says, that 2PRO is also humming and hissing like crazy. The nature of the beast I guess.
My B1R was made in 1995.
