LOL yeah I certainly have some gear...I guess I am a compulsive collector...but for collecting now its a certain "sound" and I find ampeg is the best after hearing many demos and owning the ba 115....ampeg makes a bass sound like a bass is supposed to sound...in my opinion....I also have a new Rickenbacker 4003 sitting in case because the action and feel of the fender jazz is set up so nice..... I think its because I can set the action a little lower than a rick.... as soon as I get the ampeg rig I will post some pics and a link of jam/slapping the funkLOL! Well not like you're hurting for gear, but it really is fun to have a super duper tube amp rig, even though it's quite costly.
I agree that the cab has a lot to do with it, but I can definitely tell the difference between my tube amps and my SS and hybrid amps. It's kind of subtle but it's noticeable.
Well, I agree. Ampeg is an important part of my tone. It's not "transparent" and that's okay. In fact, it's effin great... For me. YMMV, IME, etcLOL yeah I certainly have some gear...I guess I am a compulsive collector...but for collecting now its a certain "sound" and I find ampeg is the best after hearing many demos and owning the ba 115....ampeg makes a bass sound like a bass is supposed to sound...in my opinion....I also have a new Rickenbacker 4003 sitting in case because the action and feel of the fender jazz is set up so nice..... I think it's more noticeable when you're in the room than recorded (though obviously they sound great recorded). Nothing quite like a tube amp through a big cab at your back when playing live.LOL!
