Not Jimmy, but I'm sure The Man will be here soon. I think it's a great move for both Yamaha and Ampeg. Completely agree that Yamaha, year in and year out, makes high quality equipment, brings out things people are actually interested in, and take care of their customers. These are all things that would benefit the Ampeg brand.

Cross your fingers, but life in Ampland may be getting a little more exciting!

And I recently sent off my Ampeg PF800 for warranty repair (shutting down at a low volume with no fault light and the amp was cool to the touch). My tech says Ampeg has been having problems with the main board, that he's had a couple like that lately.

Inhave sold everything musical Yamaha makes. Their quality control is THE BEST.

Best news I've heard all day. As a drummer as well, I've long had massive respect for the quality of Yamaha's manufacturing and the tight QC ship that they run. There are very few brands that apply that QC as diligently at the lower price points as they do at the top, but Yamaha somehow manage it. The ability of Yamaha stuff (I am thinking particularly of even their entry-level drum hardware!) to take abuse and not only not break, but keep performing excellently, is wonderous to behold.

I'm guessing Yamaha was considering the Japanese market as much as anything with this buyout. I think it will be good for the brand, although I don't despise the current PF series stuff. It's not really my "thing", but not bad imo.

Doubt that's going to happen

This is the first I'm hearing of it and my mind is blown. And since it's blown, I have no clue what's going to happen next and nothing much to say about it, except to say that I have much respect for the job that LOUD did while they owned Ampeg, I've made quite a few friends through my dealings with them and I'm quite grateful for that, and I have much respect for what Yamaha has done over the decades, and I wish both companies and their employees the best.
