Ampeg Micro VR and Fender Rumble 100

Ok, so I have the option of getting an Ampeg Micro VR head for fairly cheap. The only problem is that the only speaker/cabinet I have available to me at the moment is a Fender Rumble 100 combo. The Ampeg head runs 200 watts @ 4 ohms, and I'm not sure whether I'd be able to use the speaker from the Rumble. If so, how would I connect them up?

You could use it, but it would involve jury rigging the cab, and it would involve you keeping the volume low enough on the head to keep from blowing the cab. Can be done, but a bit impractical.

Consider this: the Rumble 100 speaker was selected (by Fender engineers) to just (barely) handle the 100w amplifier in that combo. It will not get significantly louder when driven by the Micro VR. The spl is limited by the power handling (100w) of the Rumble 100 speaker. Purchasing the Micro VR could still be a good opportunity if its a good buy and you like the tone. Buy it and save up for a cab. If the micro VR is just a good deal, but not particularly what you want, wait and save.

I'm really sorry Alex, but just as I went to go get it I found out it had already been sold. It was floor stock from a small retailer near me who was moving which was why it was so cheap. Hope you get to find one
