Ampeg Micro VR through an 810?

Anybody try this and have an experience to share?

I'm getting an 810 and either a 7 Pro or 4 Pro but was wondering if the VR Micro could push enough for gigs when I'm feeling too lazy to lug a larger head or a smaller gig.

I am a huge fan of the Micro VR. I hooked it up to the 810 in the store for kicks and was blown a way how loud it got. What would you be competing with?

Drums mostly. Guitar player just uses a Deluxe Reverb on the other side of the stage. Sax player on my side some times. Everybody else is on ears.

If your going to be hauling the fridge along anyway, either of those bigger amps would be fairly easy to move in comparison to your cab. On the other hand If you were planning on someday having a smaller/lighter-cab rig for lower volume gigs (or just wanted a backup amp or maybe an extra to leave at your rehearsal room) I could see more benefit from also purchasing the Micro VR head now.

That's the same thing I do with my Acoustic 260 head.

I think the VR would be great for the above. Are you sure you are going to want to lug the fridge everywhere though?

Unfortunately I am hooked on the 810. Nothing else sounds the same to me. I try all kinds of other stuff but when I plug in the 810 it's just like "there's the sound I want to hear" all over again.

Can 1 Micro head run 2 210AV cabs at the same time?

IMO, there's a big difference in rolling an 810 around and carrying 50 or 60lbs around. Me and Jimmym agree that 2xmicro vr+ 410 rig would KILL. If you have the 810s that have the two seperate imputs for the top and bottom half of the cab, that would work too.

right on. however, i used my 810 last night and remembered why i don't mind lugging it around never tried the 810 with a micro vr, but it would easily push it. i've pushed mine with a b-15n and a vt/crate power block and it had plenty of juice.

Yes I have. It was great. MUCH louder than you'd expect. For what you describe it would probably work.

I once saw Converge play with an Ampeg 8x10 and an ORANGE Tiny-Terror amp. It sounded brutal. Tube pre-amp into a solid-state 450W power amplifier. He carried it on stage with just one hand, bass in the other.

Well I went to GC Saturday and tried the micro through an 810. And it was great! Good volume for small gigs and killer tone. But at the extreme setting playing the low 5th string notes it did clip a bit.

But I got home and my new AMS catalog advertised a $100 rebate on the micro stack so I think I'll get one of those to go with a bigger amp for large gigs.

Does anybody know what the micro is modeled after from the larger heads?

Check out some of the threads here about the Bergantino NV610. Same vibe as a fridge but only 100 lbs and 3 ft tall.

+10000000 try a NV610 to my ears sounds as good as a 810 but in a far easier to shift size.

ONLY drawback to me is the extra height of the 810 getting it up to ear level- thus allowing stage Vol. to be lower.

But I just sat my NV610 on a crate. NO loss of low end. The NV610 has PLENTY!!
