They've been trying to put that out for over a year. I guess having money problems does hinder your R&D...but they had it projected to come out at the beginning of last year.

I bet it does sound good, if you like the Ampeg tone...as I do. I'd like to have one around for the novelty purpose but not gig it. It would be cool to keep it in collector's shape and use it for years and years...as long as it doesn't break down because it is crap.

i like how they call it "a miniature solid-state version of the legendary SVT amplifier." it just doesn't line up.

Hard to imagine LOUD putting anything out that doesn't break down. I don't think it's a total fail, though, unless you're expecting it to sound just like an SVT and 810, which nobody in their right mind would do. But it's definitely more of a novelty, and I think if you held a gun to their heads, the LOUD idiots would admit it.

I guess it would be a cool looking lamp stand :D

  8. $299 200 watt head... cool looks...

I'd rock that before the reissue Acoustic head.

I'm interested in what that little 2x10 sounds like. It could turn out to be a very cool little recording cabinet. The head doesn't grab me as much, but the Sans Amp VT shows that you can do a decent job of mimicking an SVT using only solid state, so who knows?

I'd play this before I'd play one of those stupid "iPhone for Bass Players" heads.:rollno:

As James said, sort of: I wouldn't buy it as an SVT, I'd buy it as a 200w head that is $100 cheaper than an Acoustic. Looks like this is going to be the cheapest 200w head out there.

Can we petition the "Ampeg" marketing department to not call anything hybrid or solid state a SVT? And certainly not to put anything solid state in anything resembling a real SVT head?

Call me a purist but its not an SVT.

It might not be a bad practice amp/small venue amp. It all depends on how it sounds, of course. I might be motivated to try one out...maybe it'll be comparable to a BA-210?

The letters SVT equals sales. Therefore, you can petition them until you're blue in the face and they won't change it, and who could blame them?

I know, I know. One of these day's I'm going to find a private equity company willing to buy the Ampeg brand from LOUD, then I am going to get myself on the board. Then all decisions will be made with the advice and consent of the TalkBass Amp forum.

(maybe not as crazy as it sounds, except for the last part. you guys would make me bring the factory to Michigan or something and hire you all.)
