He didn't have available the time it would take, and nobody else took any responsibility...... It was just a bad idea, since the lack of any visible moderator for months just made the whole thing no more than a huge black eye for SLM and Ampeg.

It became a forum for all the folks who wanted to vent. And one or two specially persistent site trolls made it really unmanageable without nearly hour-by-hour moderation..

I am very curious of what the Behringer SVT knockoffs will sound like. It sounds like Vietnam hasn't been good for Ampeg, maybe Ampeg should have asked the Chinese to build theirs too....? The Behringers are now shipping from zZounds by the way....

That's a shame. Behringer is a scourge on the industry with their look/feel copying.

There was a time when Behringer was some little garage shop operation and whoever owned "Ampeg" was a large powerful manufacturer in the industry. Times sure have changed.

Ampeg was never large and powerful until SLM. Up until then, they operated on a shoestring most of the time, especially when Everett Hull owned it. Granted, it was a big shoestring, but the history of Ampeg is rife with stories of barely making payrolls and owners who had no idea what to do with it.
