My advice is in setting your volume:
At first, set the master at nine o'clock (or about)
Then turn up the gain (whilst playing) until the red light flashes, then back off a little.

Normally, your Master will be filthy loud round about one o'clock.
That's my way, anyway.

Maybe you could try at rehearsal or a gig (with a back-up head just in case)?

Yup! I get that. But this gives me a crunch that sounds like a tube amp break up. I'm not fond of that raggedy a$$ sound. I like clean, clean, clean. Low gain, 9-12 o'clock, and high volume, 2-3 o'clock to compensate for the low gain.

Anyway, since it has been almost three pages without pics, I feel obliged :D to show off my home setup:

Been using it a couple of years now and I still can't think of a better setup than this one.
A very good sounding, versatile head, with great sound at ultra low volume up to way way too loud for a living room.
And of course the SVT210AV, what a cab!
Small footprint and looks good too.
This setup doubles as monitor for my stagepiano when gigging, by the way.
When the PF350 is set flat, it is absolutely flat.
And I don't need a tweeter because I like the old schoolpiano sound (playing Rock n Roll and Rockabilly)

Add another cab, and that's my live rig.

With the PV2600 you get 1800 Watts when bridged, so that should be enough with the gain set low.
Maybe the Ampeg Classic Preamp is more suitable for you?
You get the Ampeg sound from the preamp and the power from your PV2600.
Saves you about 500 dollars.

I'm actively searching for an SVP-Pro/SVP-CL to take the place of an ART Pro Channel preamp that shares a Gator case with the PV2600. Once I find one of those I'll be happy. My VTBassDI does yeoman service as my Ampeg sound with that rig for now. Yes, the VTBassDI will also suffice on its own as a preamp.
I've lots of choices and therefore no need to be embarrassed by a piece of kit proven to be an intermittent failure.
Just trying to be pragmatic.

Yes, I ran an Avatar B115 (4 ohnms) with the PF500 with excellent results. Also an 8 ohm Avatar 12. My old PF faulted out eventually, but it was one of the first runs. I'm looking to get the PF350 for the same cabs

Does anyone know a source for pf350 boards? I have one now where the pre works fine and it can be used as a headphone amp, but you don’t get any output.

I opened it up and q3 is literally burned out. So, it seems like that board needs replacement.

Anyway...anyone know where to get those kind of parts affordably?

The only place online I could find them is pretty high:

PCB ASSY AMP/PSU BOARD PF350 - AMPEG

There's an outside chance Ampeg parts dept might have them, but with the Yamaha sale, it might be tough to come by for now.

Yes. Somewhere around digit 10, there is a letter that stands for the year:

A: 2008
B: 2009

Etc. The digit will move, however, depending on the model. If you have any difficulty figuring it, post it and I could probably figure it out for you.

EDIT: Just looked on mine, which is a 2011, and the year digit is 8th in from the left.
