Ampeg PF 500

Hi...Im about to buy a Pf500...I ve read lots of posts about issues for this head. Have they been fixed in the recent ones? Shall I go for it or I better look for a 800? (i don't need that power though)

If you can afford it, I would go with the PF-800. It isn't about the additional power, it will give you extra headroom.

Issues can happen with any amp at anytime... Nature of electronics...

Having said that, from the threads I've read it seems the early issues people experienced were resolved with revisions to the circuit boards... Check those threads for details.

Are you looking at new or used? No warranty for 2nd hand users and they charge full retail on repairs after your year is up.

Yes what I intended to convey was that even if the OP doesn't need 800W, the additional headroom that comes with the PF-800 is better to have and worth the extra investment.

Very happy with my PF500, no issues at all. Mine is from 2014, issues were fixed before that time.

I've had the 800 for well over a year now and my brother has had the 500 for 2 or 3 years. Neither of us has had any issues and we both love them.

Both will sound identical in a mix but I have to admit that having the extra juice of the 800 has come in handy from time to time. Especially for large venues or outdoor gigs were I use both of my 410 cabs.

I have had the PF500 for 2-3 years and was gigging regularly without issues. I would have gotten the 800 if the funding was there though.

I've had mine for over two years without a hiccup. I just love this amp.

A friend of mine has had a PF500 for about 3 years without any problems. He keeps it in his rehearsal room and I use it whenever I go over his place to jam. So far it's 100% reliable.

I bought one brand new that had the crappy board in it. Luckily for me, it gave me the fault light of death before the warranty expired. The newer board was installed and it has worked well since. Sold it to a friend of mine who plays it almost every weekend.

I've had mine for over a year with no problems. I'm glad I chose the pf 5oo.

Had mine for 1.5 years so far. No issues. I was skeptical myself with everything I read but it seems the issues were fixed. A great little amp...it's a keeper.

Have gigged with mine regularly for over 2 years using several different cabinets and have not had any problems. Great little amp.

I have little experience with class d amps, but 2 things I have learned...

1. The more wattage, the better.

2. Make sure you have clean, consistent power.

I have one and it is a piece of crap, It worked for 6 months then stopped working for one year, suddenly started working again, it did worked till yesterday, this morning was dead again. This is the only amp I have have issues, is all I have to say.

I bought one of the early ones and have not had any problems with it. I last used it this past Sunday playing with a symphony orchestra - I had no concerns or reservations about using it, and brought no backup.

The PF800 didn't exist when I bought mine or I would have gone for the extra power of the 800.
