Hey, I kinda like theses amps. But tell me, if you're not using one in a Portaflex cab, how exactly does one carry it about? I always picture myself gingerly carrying it into the bar like a delicate birthday cake.

I think that would be about right. I did see one that included a Rigid tool box and another with an SKB waterproof case.

I carry my PF-50T in a Meinl Std Bongo bag, as per Jimmy M's recommendation.

I've seen some folks on TB say that they use a QSC K8 tote bag to carry their PF-50T amp.

I use a Meinl bongo bag and used to use an MCM plastic case.

I found a bag made by Stagg that was intended for a double kick pedal, but is almost exactly the right size for the Pf-50t. My amp was a clearance deal from a UK retailer for the equivalent of $562 delivered, and was a boxed unit with warranty. So I'd be surprised if the used prices don't come down some time.

I use it like any other amp gig bag. Fits pretty nicely and the amp slips in/out easily.

I picked up and MCM waterproof case that came preloaded with foam that you just trim to fit the head. Not a scratch on the head since! Ive even dropped the case a couple times from about 2-3ft and never an issue! Cheap insurance at less than $100. Makes it VERY easy to pack into the car or van, no fear of crushing or even a rain!

Well the DI can do Pre and Post EQ. Post EQ sounds pretty nice as you get some glass in the signal with the preamp tubes and at least some gain settings if you like using the amp for those types of tones. There is something a bit thin about both of those DI options vs the transformer line out IMO. Both are certainly better than a run of the mill DI box youll find on the road!

I use the transformer line out when playing live and the engineer wants a DI. Its the closest sound to micing the cab youre going to get out of ANY amp ive worked with. There is more heft the sound. Most engineers are a bit hesitant when I say the amp has a DI. At the end of the set/show they are always complimentary! They just run their line flat and love it!

I did my due diligence and listened to all three options through my interface and headphones at home and the findings were consistent! All sound great, but the transformer out is the best to my ears! I love amp tones more than direct tones.

I prefer to just mic my cab though! An MD421 is always with me!

I don't even think it's close. The pre makes it sound better than a typical SS DI, but the money's in the tranny out.

I have the 20T not the 50T but I run the Tranny DI out in the studio. Clean and quiet and sounds fantastic!
Perhaps the best endorsement I can give is from my guitar player bud who is all about bass tone. When he heard the signal from the 20T Tranny DI out into his DAW he said "that's how bass should sound!".

Transformer out has the contribition of the power amp and output transformer. Extra harmonics, distortion if you want it. It’s the way to go for recording.
