....And it's here!

I've officially added an Ampeg PF-500 head to my mini-rig. And it can definitely get an old-school, wooly Ampeg tone! I'm liking the midrange voice #2 for now, and a little bit of compression. And cranking the gain is just all sorts of awesome!

Here's a question for those who haven't bolted this head to the fliptop on one of the PF series cabs: have you found some sort of case/gigbag that fits the PF-500 reasonably well?

Hmm ... I once had a stash box that looked just like the box on your cab.

It's full if boring stuff now, like shakers, bottle opener,9v batteries, knobs and other parts. Thanks for the compliment,i love this rig and believe it's the most untalked about ampeg product out. People have no idea what they are missing.

Gigged the PF500 again last night, 3rd time since I got it back from having the power board replaced. It seems that I was able to get more out of it than earlier. perhaps the sweet spot is just moved a little in relation to knob settings, or its "opening up"...I don't know.

could be my imagination too - who knows. It seemed fine, and when a friend was playing through it - I got to go out and listen. I was satisfied.

lets see what story the tale of time tells.
I REALLY do like the voice this thing has - no doubt.

I'm on my 3rd PF350. First was a floor model, cut out and the power cord socket broke. Returned, and got a brand new one...that cut out too. Started using a VT as the preamp, and it stopped cutting out. Contacted Ampeg, they sent me another brand new one...gigged a couple of times with it and no cut out problems. And that was without the VT, used it straight through. This one seems to sound even better than the other two, thicker.

Ampeg is a great company.

I gigged by PF-500 out for the first time last night. The amp delivered, but the house cabinet was GARBAGE. The PF-500 sounded so much better at home with my EBS cab than it did with this Hartke 4x10 cab the club provided.

Which Hartke 410 was it? I've been using my PF500 through a 410XL and I like the sound. Haven't played a gig with it yet, just some loud rehearsals with the band.

I've used my old 115XL with mine and I like the way it sounds by itself and actually along with my 210. I initially tried it to see if I'd be interested in getting one of Ampegs 115s. I think I'm gonna try it when I can scounge up the money.
