The GK MB200 is one, and coincidentally the head krovx was comparing to the PF500.
But the MB's silent fan may be more the result of that head running so cool that the fan never really comes on.
Same goes for the 9.0.

maevinj said:so I'm wondering if these heads are geared up more for the sealed cabs aka... the portaflex cabs verses other manufactures cabs or maybe more specifically ported cabs.
I'm really want to get this head, but now I'm concerned how it will sound with my orange obc115..

Well I've decided to return my pf350 it sounds right. But I found out how much I dislike the Xlr out being before the eq. I never had to worry about that before but now it's a issue.

read the post directly above yours...it's not.If this is right, the pf350 would pretty much be useless for me too.![]()

i think that's possible that the di is hot. the di is pretty hot in my micro vr, too. i have to keep the gain below 11:00 in order for it not to distort. fortunately, i rarely if ever use the di. i've used it on a gig once since i got it, and if i had known we were going to play the hall at house of blues and not the restraurant, i'd have just brought my mic (we always use stage volume at the restaurant).Maybe it is I'm not sure I'll try it again this weekend to confirm. When I was playing I got connected to the board and the only thing on my amp that worked was the gain. The board was dialed flat and my tone controls didn't seem to change the tones. Btw I was told that the DI is really hot. The Sound guy (a.k.a. My dad/drummer) was fighting the clipping light the whole time. Now I'm a totally new to all of this and looking at the amp's circuit diagram it shouldn't have been that way so maybe I was mistaken or there is a problem. I really like the size of the amp and the sound it has so...
gecko, i play quieter than anyone and i always mic when possible. it can be done.
doh! hard to mic a cab that you left at home, fer shurHmm. I should've added that for that particular show, I was actually going cab-less and was using the PF500 as an in-ear monitor as an experiment. (duh.... *facepalm*) Sorry.
I know this is a bit of a derail on the thread, but question for you then. If you don't play loud, how do you hit the sweet spot on your amp? For the show previous, I used my Shuttle/2x10. While I had the gain up a bit, I couldn't get the master volume above about 7:30-8:00. I do realize that that setup was overpowered for the gig, but it didn't even come close to the amp's sweet spot.
Just curious, had to ask.
5sg.
so i've figured out how to get my sound at any pathetically wimpy volume.
