I got one today, been playing a bit with it.
First good surprise, the second you turn the EQ on it sounds like Ampeg.
A comforting, slightly compressed, thick and warm tone with a bite.
I tried 3 different basses and got no unwanted clipping.
Ultra hi/low are a bit cliché but they're the same on real Ampeg.
I know how to use them, ultra low for single coils, ultra high with aging strings.
The EQ is ok, lows get just muddy enough, I'd prefer separate hi and lo mids but the knobs sculpts the sound well, highs aren't aggressive but just a tad hissy at the end of the course.
It feels home.
The Scrambler is very aggressive, I'd call it a distorsion rather than an overdrive. It's not very good at getting crunchy tones, rather violent and rich which makes the blend very welcome.
It has that tension in the low mids, a bit reminiscent of a screaming SVT that brings out all subtleties in your playing. The kind of tone that should work perfectly within a band.
Fortunately the Scrambler comes before the master level of the EQ that doesn't affect gain.
It shines through headphones which means it will also record well. I'll try it in real conditions later this week.
The line in is a good idea but making it only come through phones is bad. At the very least they should have put a jumper so you'd get the choice of letting it flow through your amp.
It would allow it to be used as an effect loop between Through and Line in, emergency mixer for 2 instruments or punching a synth/sampler into your amp.
