Ampeg Serial Number Date Code

I just picked up a PF-50T

LOUD s/n 204671200CPHU0067 according to Ampeg:

2006-2018/19: In 2006 Ampeg was purchased by Loud Technologies Inc.

The serialization scheme continued from the SLM era, with recent crossover and slight variations over the years. XXXXBBYMNNNN, where:

XXXX is model,
BB is build location,
Y is year (see chart below),
M is 2-week period (A is first week of January, B is second week of January, C is first week of February, you can figure out the rest), and the last numbers
(N) are the actual serial number.

S= 2006 C= 2010 G= 2014 K= 2018 T= 2007 D= 2011 H= 2015 L= 2019 U/A= 2008 E= 2012 I= 2016 V/B= 2009 F- 2013 J= 2017

so, my closest guess is 2010...

the amount of numbers/letters doesn't match the ledger...

or... would it be CP= Chinese Province? & the year is H (2015) ?

The 17-digit serial number looks like it fits into the post-Yamaha acquisition period. But my newly acquired PF-20T's serial number does not mean anything. It is 204671301CPHY0098. Am I missing something?

My PF-50T follows the same scheme and also starts with 204671200, then CPKP with the NNNN numbers after it. Were they making PF-50T amps in 2010? I was looking at another thread that made me think mine was a 2018 (that the K was the year of manufacture), but I have no way to know for sure unless someone from Ampeg shows up in here.

204671200 looks like a code for PF50-T as yours and Paul's are the same in the first nine digits. Mine is different just in the last three digits of the first nine. I think they started the production of these back in 2015.

My PF-50T follows the same scheme and also starts with 204671200, then CPKP with the NNNN numbers after it. Were they making PF-50T amps in 2010? After seeing the inconsistency between the serial numbers of my Ampeg's and the PDF, I contacted Ampeg customer service and they told me the year of manufacturing without explaining what the code meant. So, you might like to do the same.

I would say either 2007 or early 2008. Their serials got slightly more standardized in 2008.

Can’t tell dates by the serial back then. You would need to pull a speaker if they’re original and use the date code.

The 74 means 1974 and the 50 means it was made the 50th week. So early 75 is my best guess.

Adding to what JimmyM posted, 137 7450 tells you both who made the speaker and when. 137 is the EIA code for CTS and then as JimmyM wrote the date code is YYWW where YY is the last two digits of the year, and WW is the week of manufacture.

Mid 80s before they started with the more commonly used format in 88. Could be 86, 87, or early 88.
