Ampeg Serial Number Date Code

Hey Jimmy,

As I was reading through all these serial number questions I saw the one for the V4B that listed Ampeg (LOUD Technologies) as designed in Woodinville, WA. I live in Duvall and Woodinville is about 20 minutes down the Duvall/Woodinville Road. Yamaha owns them now don't they? Are they still designed in Woodinville, WA or at a Yamaha facility? Would be a kick to visit them if they are still just down the road.

Nope, they operate out of Cali now, but LOUD is still there but mostly devoted to Mackie.

Hi just wondering if anyone can help me identify the year this cab was built in its an Ampeg SVT-410HLF with a serial number (EDADU20729) if there are any other details that can be gathered from the serial number I would also like to know. Thanks

Hi JimmyM. I was hoping to contact you because you seem the most knowledgable and easiest to understand user I can find on the subject of Ampeg Amps. I'm setting up a small home studio and wan tot get an Ampeg amp for this purpose. I play mostly rock, indie rock sort of stuff so my needs are basic. I'm thinking. aRB115 or maybe a micro VR? I'm limited in my area so I'm ordering somewhat blind. Any suggestion is appreciated.

The RB amps have been a very pleasant surprise with the sounds you get out of them, but I love my 210av cabs as well. Still, I think you can do a lot with the RB amps. However, in the studio, unless you’re micing the cab (which can be pretty awesome when done right), you might just want a DI with a cab sim like the SGT DI.
